A group of 10 travel agents from across Australia and New Zealand has returned from a bucket-list-filled, Northern Lights winter cruise to Norway hosted by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, their exclusive Australian representative, Cruise Traveller, and NZ counterpart, Cruise World.
The aim of the trade famil was to showcase Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines as one of the most affordable ways to journey to the Arctic Circle, with Northern Lights winter voyages to Norway in 2025/26 starting from just GBP1399 per person, twin share.
The lucky dozen on the voyage to Norway were hosted by Cruise Traveller Business Development Manager (Vic, Tas, SA), Laura Stone, and Business Development Manager for NZ-based Cruise World, Julia Miles-Cassin.
The trade famil saw the group sail on a 10-night, round-trip journey from the UK to Norway aboard the stylish, boutique, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines ship, Balmoral, which carries 1350 guests. The line’s three ships are smaller and more intimate vessels that can reach smaller and more remote destinations, showcasing traditional seafaring heritage and the calming pleasures of classic cruising.
The group included Australian and Kiwi travel agents from Travel Advocates, Travel Managers, Travel Prospects, Holidaysify, Private Travel, ATG Brokers, Phil Hoffman Travel, Bay Travel and Cruise and Capital Travel.

Laura said the group also enjoyed feeding reindeer in the Arctic Circle. “It was a magical experience, especially amidst the snowy landscape,” explained Laura. “The reindeer approach eagerly, their breath visible in the cold air. Offering them snacks, you feel a connection to these beautiful animals and learn about ancient Sami traditions. The serene silence and the jawdropping scenery enhanced the experience further.
“Meeting husky dogs and going dog sledding in northern Norway was another unforgettable adventure we enjoyed. We were greeted by the friendly, energetic huskies, their tails wagging ready for their day’s work. Once harnessed, the dogs took off through the snowy landscape, their strength and speed exhilarating. The close bond between the dogs and their musher was obvious.
“Sailing across the Arctic Circle allowed us to witness the raw beauty of one of the world’s most remote and pristine environments. To celebrate this milestone, Fred.Olsen hosts a special Arctic Circle event where guests are invited to have ice-cold water poured over their heads. Of course, we couldn’t resist joining in on this unique tradition!
