Burger King, the American burger market leader, continues to redefine creative marketing with its latest campaign, ‘The Sunburn Billboard.’ This inventive initiative transforms the blazing midday sun of Bangkok’s fiery winter into free Whoppers, offering a sizzling new experience for customers. At the heart of this campaign lies a groundbreaking billboard design. Equipped with a curved, magnifying glass-like panel, the billboard captures and concentrates sunlight into an intense focal point. The resulting heat ignites a piece of paper on the billboard, revealing a hidden QR code. This clever interaction invites members of the Burger King app to scan the code and claim a free flame-grilled Whopper, valued at 179 baht. The promotion is exclusively available at the Ratchadaphisek branch from 19 to 31 December 2024, limited to just 999 redemptions.

Mr. Tanawat Damnernthong, General Manager of Burger (Thailand) Co., Ltd., stated, “At Burger King, we are dedicated to delivering a diverse range of experiences through our products and services, aiming to build strong brand recognition and long-term connections with our customers, particularly in Thailand. Over the years, we’ve generated widespread buzz with our viral marketing campaigns, creating significant online conversations. Notable examples include The Real Burger campaign, which introduced the Real Cheese Burger—featuring a towering stack of 20 slices of cheese—and the Real Meat Burger. These initiatives not only captured public attention but also increased our new customer base by 50% and quadrupled the number of app memberships.”

Burger King ends the year with a burst of creativity through its latest campaign, ‘The Sunburn Billboard.’ Inspired by Thailand’s ironically blazing winter sunshine, which rivals the heat of summer, the campaign turns familiar scorching weather into a unique year-end gift. At the heart of this concept is the innovative Sunburn Billboard, featuring a curved glass panel designed to act like a magnifying glass. As sunlight strikes the billboard, the glass concentrates the rays into a single point, generating intense heat. This heat ignites a piece of paper on the billboard, gradually burning away to reveal a hidden QR code. Customers who are members of the Burger King app can scan the code to claim a free Whopper, the brand’s signature flame-grilled burger, available until the end of the year. This playful, sun-powered concept is a memorable way to celebrate the season with a touch of Burger King’s signature flair.

“The Sunburn Billboard campaign employs an Experiential Marketing strategy, designed to create fresh and memorable experiences for consumers. We are confident that this campaign will effectively boost brand awareness among our target audience while serving as a vibrant year-end gift for everyone. Burger King remains committed to developing new menu offerings alongside innovative marketing campaigns, reinforcing its reputation as a true leader in creating viral sensations,” concluded Mr. Tanawat.
