Spread the love
Singapore’s artisanal ice cream brand Momolato is spreading its wings with the launch of its second outlet, located just a stone’s throw away from the iconic Sultan Mosque in the heart of Kampong Glam. Building on the success of her first outlet on Haji Lane, Chef Sharon Tay, the founder and award-winning gelato artisan, takes Momolato to the next level with a second outlet on North Bridge Road. The new space reflects her creative vision, combining innovation, nostalgia, and a touch of whimsy.
A Menu of Dessert Innovation
The new outlet features an expanded menu that highlights Sharon’s creativity and her flair for reinventing classic desserts. Standouts include Crepe Cones, Puddings, and the Kunafa Waffle, a Middle Eastern-inspired treat that combines crispy and doughy textures. For a delightful contrast of flavours and textures, the deep-fried mochi ice cream blends crispy exteriors with chewy centers. Specialty cakes like Ondeh Ondeh, Pulut Hitam Cheesecake, and Chocolate Addict—a decadent combination of rich couverture chocolate ganache and cream—round out the sweet offerings.
Savoury options are also on the menu featuring Momolato smash burgers, pizza, fried chicken and Cheese Coin Waffle a fun snack available in four indulgent flavors: gooey mozzarella and cheddar cheese, Ondeh Ondeh, pistachio, and Nutella.
Momolato’s signature ice cream remains the star of the show, served in crepe cones or cups. With 24 vibrant flavors, including six new creations for the launch—Yuzu Ginger Flower, Arabica Coffee Hazelnut, Choc Hazelnut Kunafa, Sweet Corn Cempedak, Hibiscus Apple, and Chilli Mango Lime—there’s something to tantalize every palate.
Whimsical Interiors with Local Inspiration
The design of the new 20-seater outlet is as fun as its menu, described as “modern eclectic with whimsical accents.” The ground floor shophouse features pastel pistachio cream walls, terracotta tiles, and cloud-shaped lamps that evoke a playful, lighthearted atmosphere. Arched design elements throughout the café pay homage to the nearby Sultan Mosque while reflecting the creamy textures of gelato, seamlessly blending local inspiration with modern aesthetics.
The ice cream cart-inspired shopfront bridges Momolato’s humble beginnings with its future. Sharon explains, ”This new outlet is a dream come true,” she says. “It’s a place where we can experiment with textures and flavors, and create an environment where people can sit, relax, and enjoy their desserts.”
