Bhutan has recently (December 12, 2024) won two prestigious travel and tourism awards, including the Best International Wellness Destination at the Travel + Leisure India’s Best Awards 2024 (for Paro, Bhutan), and runner up award in the Favourite Overseas Destination Category at the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards.
Official from the Royal Bhutanese Embassy, New Delhi accepted the awards on behalf of the Department of Tourism Bhutan.
Travel + Leisure India’s Best Awards is a yearly award that celebrates the world’s finest in travel and tourism, recognising destinations, hotels, airlines and other industry leaders based on votes from readers and travellers. This year, Bhutan’s award underscores the unique blend of wellness experiences rooted in Bhutan’s spiritual heritage and natural environment. Furthermore, Paro is home to some of Bhutan’s most sacred spiritual sites, such as Taktsang monastery (Tiger’s Nest monastery) and Kyichu lhakhang.
The Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards act as the pinnacle of travel recognition setting a benchmark in the hospitality industry. Meticulously selected through the discerning lens of ardent travellers, these awards not only recognise but also set the standard for unparalleled service, luxury, and exceptional experiences. Like every year, the Readers’ Travel Awards are chosen through a readers’ voting process spanning two months and recognises the best in the travel industry across hotels, destinations, airlines, spas, websites, apps and more.
“We are honoured to receive these prestigious accolades which highlight Bhutan’s commitment to offering transformative travel experiences to its visitors. Winning these awards reflects the trust and admiration of travellers for Bhutan, and it inspires us to continue preserving our heritage, enhancing sustainable tourism, and sharing the unique essence of Bhutan with the world. We are grateful to the Travel + Leisure India and Condé Nast Traveller community and the voters for acknowledging Bhutan’s allure in the global travel market,” said Damcho Rinzin, Director of the Department of Tourism.
