Korean Air commemorated the 30th anniversary of its Atlanta route on December 12, celebrating three decades of connecting Korea and the Atlanta region with exceptional service and a strong commitment to both Korean and international communities.
To mark this milestone, the airline awarded a complimentary round-trip economy class ticket between Atlanta and Seoul Incheon to the 30th passenger checking in for flight KE036 to Seoul. All passengers on this flight were also given a tote bag and a jar of honey from Georgia’s Savannah region as a token of appreciation.
Additionally, Korean Air hosted a celebratory dinner in downtown Atlanta on December 9, attended by approximately 100 guests, including representatives from the Korean Consulate, industry partners, key travel agencies, members of the media and Korean Air representatives.
“On this special occasion, we sincerely thank our customers for their steadfast support over the past 30 years and for choosing Korean Air as their preferred travel partner,” said Jin Ho Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Americas Regional Headquarters at Korean Air. “We remain committed to strengthening ties between Korea and Atlanta and providing excellent service for years to come.”
Korean Air launched the Atlanta route on December 12, 1994, initially operating three flights per week between Seoul Gimpo Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport via Chicago. Today, the route operates daily flights, underscoring its significance in facilitating business, logistics, tourism, and cultural exchanges between Korea and the United States.
Georgia, home to Atlanta and a major hub of Korean industrial investment, hosts significant contributions from Korean industries, including automobile manufacturing, battery production, and electric vehicle sector. Passengers traveling on this route also benefit from convenient connections to destinations across the Americas through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, one of the busiest hub airports in the world.
In 2023, approximately 237,000 passengers traveled on the Atlanta route, making it Korean Air’s third most popular U.S. destination after Los Angeles and New York, which carried 493,273 and 469,147 passengers, respectively. Korean Air remains committed to enhancing connectivity and providing world-class service to passengers for decades to come.
