Aircalin, New Caledonia’s premier international airline, has announced a significant milestone in its growth strategy: acquiring two Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This strategic move aims to revolutionize its long-haul operations, enhance passenger experience, and reinforce its commitment to sustainability.
This game-changing fleet expansion comes as Aircalin prepares to strengthen its newly launched Nouméa-Paris route, operated via Bangkok. The advanced A350-900 aircraft will expand the airline’s capabilities and redefine its premium offerings with increased capacity and state-of-the-art technology.
Premium Fleet Evolution
Currently operating two Airbus A330neo aircraft in its widebody fleet, Aircalin is setting the stage for a transformative upgrade. The A350s will be configured in a three-class layout, designed to accommodate over 320 passengers—a 15% increase in capacity compared to the A330neo. The configuration promises an elevated premium experience, including an expanded business class designed to meet the growing demand for comfort on long-haul journeys.

The A350’s cutting-edge design includes new-generation engines and extensive use of lightweight materials, ensuring operational excellence and environmental sustainability. Currently capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), the A350 aims to achieve 100% SAF compatibility by 2030, aligning with Airbus’ ambitious sustainability goals.

At the end of November 2024, Airbus had secured over 1,300 orders for the A350 from 61 customers globally, further cementing its status as the leading long-haul aircraft of choice.
