The results are in following the third annual Camp Out campaign created by Australian children’s cancer charity, Camp Quality, in partnership with NRMA Parks and Resorts, reporting a fundraising record of more than $180,000.

NRMA Parks and Resorts CEO Paul Davies Presents Cheque for Camp Out Fundraiser

The 2024 Camp Out event took place on October 26, when travellers were invited to camp out at any of NRMA’s more than 40 holiday parks across the eastern states.

The total funds raised comprised of NRMA’s commitment to donate 50% of fees from caravan and campsite stays that night to Camp Quality’s Family Getaway program – a program that year-round gives families impacted by cancer a much-needed break – as well as online and cash donations.

The top performing fundraising campers were at NRMA Darlington Beach Holiday Resort, followed by NRMA Myall Shores Holiday Park and NRMA Ocean Beach Holiday Resort. Guests across the park’s portfolio enjoyed live music, auctions, meeting Camp Quality puppets, family competitions, face painting and scavenger hunts.

The date for next year’s Camp Out fundraising campaign has also just been announced: Saturday, October 25, 2025. It’s not too early for families, supporters and keen campers to select their favourite spot to camp out for a good cause.

NRMA Parks and Resorts CEO Paul Davies said the results from the latest round of fundraising meant a lot to the member-owned organisation whose vision is to offer families unforgettable holidays together.

“At NRMA we’re so pleased to see the Camp Out campaign is gaining momentum with our members and guests and these funds will help further the team at Camp Quality to give families of kids with cancer the chance to get away and have a holiday at our parks and resorts,” Mr Davies said.

“The annual Camp Out event is only one element of our national partnership with Camp Quality, which includes the Family Getaway program, where we host families impacted by cancer with a much needed holiday at seven of our Holiday Park locations,” he said.

“Everyone who camped out or made a donation should be so proud of this result which will really make a difference to the lives of kids with cancer and their families.”

Camp Quality CEO Deborah Thomas says the ongoing partnership with NRMA Parks and Resorts offers valuable help to kids and their families as they face the challenges of cancer.

“When a child is diagnosed with cancer the whole family is thrown into turmoil,” Ms Thomas said.

“Thanks to the generosity of NRMA we have been able to expand our Family Getaway program to give more families this vital break and an opportunity to create happy memories.

“We look forward to Camp Out’s continued success in 2025.”
