Spread the love

Situated in the historic medieval village of Èze on the Côte d’Azur, Château Eza sits on one of the most prominent hilltops above the Mediterranean Sea overlooking the famous enclave of Saint-Jean-Cap Ferrat, between the iconic destinations of Nice and Monaco.

Prince William of Sweden, who fell in love with Èze’s beautiful setting during his first visit in 1920, acquired and incorporated individual homes into Château Eza one by one in order to create his private winter residence. The prince left the village in 1953 and his estate returned to individual properties. From 1976 to 1980, the Red Cross’ general delegate, Andre Rochat, re-acquired the apartments to bring Château Eza back to its former glory. Later, to share this property with the public, he opened a tearoom and then a bed and breakfast, with Château Eza officially becoming a hotel in 1987.

The intimate property features fourteen unique rooms spread across the fully pedestrianised cobblestone village of Èze, which clings to the mountainside. The smallest rooms open onto the medieval village, while the larger ones look out to sea, and the Presidential Suite takes in a wide panorama from the hot tub on its terrace.

The hotel’s Michelin Starred, 50 seat restaurant offers refined French and Mediterranean cuisine in a superb setting, led by Head Chef Justin Schmitt and with dishes including lobster with peach ravioli and roasted octopus with smoked whiskey. The restaurant features floor-to-ceiling windows, which are entirely open during the summer months, providing a semi al fresco experience and ensuring abundant natural light. The restaurant features two small balconies, each with four seats, providing a highly exclusive dining experience with the opportunity to host private dinners.

The 18-seat lounge bar and adjacent 20-seat two levelled outdoor terrace with cobblestone walls create a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests and visitors can enjoy an extensive selection of handcrafted cocktails, teas, coffees and appetisers. Guests can experience legendary sunsets and relax to the magic of the sunset jazz programme. Additionally, there is a private dining room able to accommodate 16 people, which also features its own private terrace with superb sea views – ideal for hosting intimate weddings and corporate events. Château Eza also includes a Wine Cave, where the hotel’s experienced sommeliers organise degustation menus with wine pairing.

Guest experiences include helicopter tours over the French Riviera, with a bird’s eye view of the world-Famous Monaco Casino and the Formula One circuit, as well as the cliffs and beaches of Saint-Jean-Cap Ferrat and Villefranche-Sur-Mer, Champagne tasting in the wine cave, Côte d’Azur by yacht, golf at the Monte Carlo Golf Club and a private guided tour of the Côte d’Azur villages by limousine. The Village of Eze is home to the Jardin Exotique, full of vibrant colours and unique flora, as well as a Sunday morning market showcasing an array of local produce and crafts.
