As a veritable jewel of the Belle Époque, Le Negresco embodies the quintessence of France’s cultural heritage. With its exceptional collection of 6000 artworks, spanning the great periods from Louis XIII to contemporary art, Le Negresco is more than an exceptional hotel: it is the custodian of a unique heritage.

Listed as a ‘Monument Historique’ since 2003 by the French Ministry of Culture for its façade and the Salon Royal, and awarded the Living Heritage Company label in 2015, Le Negresco has established itself as a reference for French cultural heritage. Under the visionary leadership of Jeanne Augier, who ran it with an unwavering passion for over sixty years, the hotel has cultivated a tradition of excellence while affirming its commitment to promoting living heritage. Today, it is not only a witness to history but also its guardian and interpreter.

Between past and present, Le Negresco writes a new chapter

To preserve and transmit its heritage, Le Negresco is preparing to embark on an exceptional metamorphosis. From November 2024 until May 2025, the hotel will undergo renovations combining the art of sublimation with the science of restoration. During these few months, an illustration will adorn the main entrance, allowing the establishment to continue to welcome its guests with the same elegance while concealing the work taking place behind it.

The ‘Architectes des Bâtiments de France’ will carefully supervise the rebirth of this majestic façade on the Promenade des Anglais. Initiated in 2020, the project aims to restore the landmark to its original splendour. The 1913 Belle Époque statues will also be restored to their former glory, celebrating the unique beauty of Nice, a winter resort town of the Riviera listed by the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

These projects reflect Le Negresco’s dedication to all forms of artistic expression and celebrating influences across different historical periods. In this spirit, the statue of Miles Davis, an emblematic figure of Bar Le Versailles, will be returned to its favourite location on the terrace in May 2025. True to its tradition of excellence, Le Negresco will reveal an exclusive collection of 12 new rooms and suites, renovated by master craftsmen and the hotel’s ‘Compagnons du Devoirs‘ upholsterers.

The renaissance of Madame’s apartments

In May 2025, a new page will be written at the summit of Le Negresco. The sixth floor, Jeanne Augier’s private refuge, will be transformed into an exceptional suite. This is where Jeanne Augier, the hotel’s visionary custodian, once fiercely elegantly oversaw everything in her palace.

The 400 m² suite will offer a breathtaking 180° view over the Baie des Anges, complemented by a 200 m² private terrace, a veritable cocoon of serenity overlooking the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean. Suspended between skies and sea, this suite pays tribute to time.

Much more than a mere homage, it crystalises the soul of Le Negresco, perpetuating its timeless heritage while ushering in a new era of modernity. In this way, time never stands still; it is celebrated, reinvented, and immortalised.

With its architecture, artworks and history, Le Negresco epitomises a heritage that must be safeguarded for future generations. Each new renovation initiative contributes to writing a page to this legendary hotel’s Odyssey while honouring Madame Augier’s legacy.
