In a transformative move to redefine flight booking experiences across Asia Pacific, Singapore-based digital travel leader Agoda has teamed up with Amadeus, a powerhouse in travel technology. This strategic partnership grants Agoda access to Amadeus’ vast airline content, empowering the travel platform to deliver a seamless, comprehensive booking experience that includes flights, hotels, and activities. Launched initially in Thailand in September, the collaboration is set for a rapid rollout across the entire Asia Pacific region by year-end, marking a pivotal evolution in Agoda’s service offerings.
Agoda, renowned for its strong foothold in hospitality, aims to amplify its digital reach in airline bookings with this alliance, allowing travellers a broader selection and improved comparison features through the Agoda website and mobile app. By integrating Amadeus’ cutting-edge technology, Agoda is enhancing customer choice and elevating the quality of options available, thanks to the inclusion of both EDIFACT and NDC (New Distribution Capability) airline content. This integration supports Agoda’s ambition to create a connected trip experience, enabling travellers to conveniently organize every aspect of their journey on one unified platform.
Agoda’s Senior Vice President of Supply, Andrew Smith, emphasized the company’s vision for this partnership, noting the importance of offering comprehensive travel solutions to meet evolving customer expectations. “In recent years, we’ve invested significant resources into building our Flights value proposition for both customers and airlines. Our partnership with Amadeus, one of the most advanced travel technology platforms, is a key milestone in that effort. By integrating Amadeus’ extensive airline content, we’re creating even greater value for our customers and our partners, reinforcing Agoda’s position as one of the leading choices for travel in the Asia Pacific region,” Smith stated. “Our vision is to provide a connected trip experience where customers can seamlessly book flights, hotels, and activities all on one platform.”
The partnership underscores Agoda’s role as a top-tier online travel agency in the region. According to Tristan Nielson, Vice President of Online Sales at Amadeus, the collaboration also fortifies Amadeus’ presence in the Asia Pacific market, providing Agoda customers with unprecedented access to an expansive selection of airline content. “Agoda is one of the largest online travel agencies in the Asia Pacific market, and this partnership continues to drive our presence in the region,” Nielson remarked. “Agoda customers will have access to the most comprehensive range of airline content, including EDIFACT and NDC, allowing them to build the tailored experiences they have come to expect all in one location. We look forward to working with Agoda in Thailand and beyond.”
This partnership will integrate with Agoda’s parent company, Booking Holdings, a longstanding collaborator of Amadeus. This development strengthens Booking Holdings’ ability to offer more diverse travel solutions across its network, reaffirming its commitment to meeting customer needs through state-of-the-art digital tools and content-rich partnerships.
As the new airline offering scales across the APAC region, Agoda’s enhanced platform is set to redefine convenience and choice for travellers, offering unprecedented access to curated flight experiences. The combination of Agoda’s hospitality expertise and Amadeus’ advanced technology signifies a promising era for travel in the Asia Pacific, marked by elevated customer service, broader options, and greater flexibility in travel planning.
With customer-centric innovations and robust alliances, Agoda’s new direction with Amadeus is poised to capture the dynamic demands of today’s Asia Pacific travellers. This strategic shift not only strengthens Agoda’s competitive advantage but also aligns it with the future of travel, where seamless, connected experiences are paramount.
