And with a range of new adventures rolling out, Fiji is offering visitors exhilarating experiences that go beyond the idyllic beaches and luxurious resorts it’s already known for.

Taking place at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa in Natadola from the 22nd – 24th of November, AdventureNEXT will connect industry leaders, adventure tourism professionals and enthusiasts to highlight the growing adventure opportunities within Fiji and beyond.

Robert Thompson, Executive Director of Regions at Tourism Fiji, expressed his enthusiasm at seeing more travellers venturing to lesser-known areas in the destination. “We’ve seen a growing demand for adventure tourism in Fiji, with visitors eager to explore our 333 islands beyond the amazing resorts. Hosting AdventureNEXT provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase our unique offerings to an international audience while highlighting Fiji’s natural beauty, culture, and commitment to sustainable tourism.”

To mark the growth of the adventure tourism sector and the upcoming AdventureNEXT summit, Tourism Fiji has shared the top five must-try adventure experiences in Fiji.

1. Jet Boating

Get your adrenaline pumping with an exhilarating jet boating experience through Fiji’s waterways. Sigatoka Jet Boat Safari offers an award-winning cultural experience that combines a high-speed jet boating thrill with a journey into the heart of Fiji’s culture. As you zoom past lush rainforests and volcanic mountains along the Sigatoka River, you’ll end your safari with a visit to a remote village for an authentic glimpse into Fijian life. For those craving more excitement, consider a Jet Ski Safari at Pacific Harbour where you’ll ski over the ocean to circumnavigate Beqa Island and snorkel in pristine waters.

2. Off-Road Adventures

The best way to discover Fiji’s hidden interior is on wheels, from a quad bike to a buggy or motorbike! Enjoy the excitement of the Off-Road Cave Safari ATV tour, which takes you deep into the Sigatoka Valley and through the impressive Naihehe Caves, Fiji’s largest cave system. Alternatively, join the new 4WD Safaris from Rosie Holidays for a comfortable ride to historic sites in air-conditioned luxury. You can even explore Fiji via motorbike with Mai Island Ride offering a 3-day journey through mountain trails and WWII historical sites.

3. Explore Fiji’s Inland Sand Dunes

Located along the Coral Coast, the Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park is a breathtaking landscape in the heart of Fiji. Offering an affordable eco-adventure, hike through the dunes and enjoy coastal views whilst uncovering the National Park’s rich cultural history and archaeological sites that date back 2600 years. Ideal for families and nature enthusiasts, this budget-friendly experience offers a unique journey, making it a must-visit area in Fiji.

4. Ziplining Through Rainforests

Nothing beats the adrenaline of ziplining through Fiji’s rainforests at speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour. A thrilling activity for the whole family, one of the top spots to go ziplining in Fiji is the Sleeping Giant Zip Line, located just 20 minutes from Nadi. The 35-acre adventure park has 7 ziplines for you to try, each flying through the treetops and over rivers and waterfalls. Zip Fiji also offers an exhilarating experience with several zip lines along the Pacific Harbour as well as cave abseiling experiences.

5. Skydiving

For an unforgettable adventure, skydiving over Fiji’s pristine islands is truly unmatched. Skydive Fiji, one of the country’s premier skydiving companies, offers tandem jumps where you can experience the exhilarating rush of freefall before landing gently on one of Fiji’s famed beaches. If jumping from a plane isn’t for you, consider an ultralight seaplane tour with Turtle Airways. This breathtaking experience takes off from Nadi Wailoaloa Waters and showcases Fiji’s key landmarks, including the Garden of the Sleeping Giants, Kula Eco Park, and Tavoro Waterfalls, all from a unique aerial perspective.

Further cementing Fiji’s commitment to adventure tourism, the destination recently won Best Use of Native or Content Marketing at the 2024 Mumbrella Travel Marketing Awards. Tourism Fiji’s GoPro Creator Summit brought 50 athletes and creators from 21 countries to Fiji for a five-day adventure, where they experienced adventure in its truest forms including some of the above, from diving, zip-lining and skydiving to cultural immersions, which was all captured using GoPro cameras.
