Thailand marks the fourth country in the world for YouTube’s Shopping affiliate program expansion, and second in Southeast Asia, following the successful launch in Indonesia. Eligible creators in Thailand can now register for the YouTube Shopping affiliate program and earn commissions by tagging products sold on Shopee in their videos.

This expansion taps into Thailand’s thriving digital economy, which is projected to reach a Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of $50 billion by 2025. As a major driver of Thailand’s digital economy, the e-commerce sector, representing 61% of total digital GMV in 2023, is poised for continued growth, reaching $30 billion by 2025[1].
YouTube is uniquely positioned to support this growth, as it’s not only a platform for entertainment and information but also a powerful destination for shopping inspiration. In Thailand, this sentiment is further supported by Kantar survey, as 87% of viewers in Thailand agree that YouTube helps them decide what to purchase[2]. In addition, 93% of the respondents agree that because of the information found on YouTube, they felt confident about the purchase they made[3].
In 2023 alone, people around the world watched over 30 billion hours of shopping-related videos on YouTube[4], demonstrating their trust in creators’ recommendations and their desire for authentic product reviews and demonstrations. Creators who meet the eligibility criteria can join the program by completing a simple registration process, which will give them access to tag products from brands, small and medium-sized businesses and micro-enterprises sold on Shopee in their content. YouTube plans to invite more partners to the affiliate program in the future to expand the taggable product options for creators and support more brands from all sizes to introduce their products through different creator videos.

With YouTube Shopping, viewers can conveniently start shopping while watching content from their favorite creators. You can check the full list of tagged products and information about each product at a glance in the description section and ‘Product’ section of the video. If you click on a product you like, it will take you directly to an external sales page for quick and easy purchase. Creators also have the flexibility to tag products, both in existing and new videos, and pinning them during live streams
By seamlessly integrating shopping into their content, the YouTube Shopping affiliate program offers Thai creators another powerful tool to engage their audience and build deeper connections.
