ITB Asia has officially kicked off its most ambitious edition yet, cementing its position as Asia’s premier travel trade show. The 17th edition brings together over 85 tourism organizations and convention bureaus from around the globe, showcasing a staggering 75% growth in African exhibitors and a 25% increase from Europe. Hosted at Singapore’s Sands Expo and Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands, this year’s event promises an extraordinary platform for travel industry professionals, offering unmatched opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and future-shaping partnerships.
With the theme “Innovating for Tomorrow: Strengthening Future Resilience in Travel and Tourism,” ITB Asia 2024 combines three powerhouse events under one roof: ITB Asia, MICE Show Asia, and Travel Tech Asia. The three-in-one format ensures that every sector of the travel industry is represented, from destinations, attractions, airlines, hotels, and cruise operators to the rapidly growing MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) industry and the cutting-edge travel technology that is transforming the way we travel.
Unprecedented Global Representation
This year’s show marks a significant milestone with an unprecedented scale, hosting exhibitors from more than 56 countries. Attendees can explore the extensive exhibition floors, spanning three massive halls. From Asia and Oceania, which account for 56% of exhibitors, to Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East, which comprise the remaining 44%, ITB Asia 2024 reflects the vibrant diversity of the global travel market.
Leading tourism organizations such as the Sultanate of Oman, Visit Norway, Tourism Armenia, and India’s Ministry of Tourism are a few major players contributing to the event’s international scope. The increase in African and European exhibitors signals the growing confidence in both regions’ travel industries as they recover from global challenges.
Opening Ceremony: A Grand Spectacle
Singapore’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Alvin Tan, and Singapore Tourism Board Chief Executive, Melissa Ow, joined Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin, and David Ruetz, Senior Vice President of Messe Berlin, to officially open ITB Asia 2024. The event commenced with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, surrounded by the vibrant spectacle of a traditional lion dance, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Mario Tobias shared his excitement for this year’s expanded event:
“ITB Asia has evolved beyond being just a marketplace; it is now a global hub for travel innovation and industry development. The diversity on the exhibition floor this year demonstrates the industry’s robust confidence, and ITB Asia 2024 offers attendees a comprehensive platform that ensures they leave with valuable, actionable insights for their businesses.”
Groundbreaking Innovation and Industry Insight
Innovation and forward-thinking solutions are at the heart of this year’s event. Travel Tech Asia has taken centre stage, with an entire hall dedicated to showcasing the latest in travel technology, including pioneering startups and advanced tech solutions designed to streamline the future of travel.
In tandem, the MICE Show Asia has seen exponential growth, further solidifying Asia’s position as a significant player in the MICE industry. With more than 160 expert speakers and over 100 informative sessions spread across three dedicated conference tracks – Knowledge Theatre, MICE Show Asia, and Travel Tech Asia – the event offers more than 4,000 minutes of industry-leading content. Attendees will gain fresh perspectives on everything from the future of corporate travel and the latest technological advancements to breakthrough innovations in leisure and group travel.

ITB Asia 2024 has attracted many new exhibitors from burgeoning markets, including several key players from Africa and South America. These regions are eager to capitalize on Asia’s booming travel economy and present their unique destinations to a global audience.
