From next Tuesday onwards, all SWISS Economy and Premium Economy Class travellers departing from Zurich will need to check in for their flight at the airport’s Check-in 3 (at the rail station), as the usual Check-in 1 option will be temporarily unavailable. The change is required for the airport to replace the baggage belts on the Check-in 1 concourse. SWISS Business and SWISS First travellers can continue to check in for their flights in Check-in 1.
From Tuesday 29 October onwards, all Economy and Premium Economy Class customers of Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) departing from Zurich will need to check in for their flight at the airport’s Check-in 3, because the usual Check-in 1 option will be temporarily unavailable. Check-in 3 is located in the airport’s subsurface shopping zone, directly above the rail station and close to the bus terminal.
The new arrangement will continue for some five months until spring 2025 while the airport replaces the baggage belts on the Check-in 1 concourse, a task which will temporarily limit the concourse’s passenger handling capacities. The work is part of the second (and final) phase in the airport’s renewal of its baggage system, and SWISS customers in all travel classes should be able to use Check-in 1 again from the end of March 2025.
Alongside SWISS, the temporary rearrangement of Zurich’s check-in facilities will also affect customers of SWISS’s sister carrier Edelweiss and the further airlines of the Lufthansa Group operating services from Zurich. Business and First Class travellers are unaffected by these changes, and may continue to check in for their flight at the airport’s Check-in 1. Also excepted from the new arrangement are higher-status customers, unaccompanied minors and travellers wishing to check in a pet for transport in the cargo hold, whose check-in desks will all remain in Check-in 1. Travellers with restricted mobility may continue to use either Check-in 1 or Check‑in 3.
