Cornwall - St Michael's MountThe hit UK TV period drama, ‘Poldark’, which aired from 2015-19, was filmed along Cornwall’s dramatic coastline in south-west England. See the spectacular cliffs, epic vistas, pristine beaches and pretty villages which formed the famous backdrop for the historical TV series on a week-long walking getaway offered by self-guided hiking company, On Foot Holidays. Walk in 2025 but at 2024 prices by booking by November 30, 2024.

One of 34 self-guided walks On Foot Holidays offers across Europe, the six-night Cornwall coastal features rugged sea cliffs, quaint fishing villages, azure waters, beautiful beaches and wild, wind-in-your-hair, coastal scenery that helped make the romance-filled ‘Poldark’ series, starring Aidan Turner, so popular around the world.

Designed for independent travellers, On Foot Holidays’ portfolio of immersive and low-impact walking journeys across Europe sees walkers stay at authentic accommodations, with luggage transferred every day so hikers can follow the trail unencumbered by heavy rucksacks. All routes are designed by locals and tested by staff from On Foot Holidays.

Available between March and November, On Foot Holidays’ Cornwall hike is a six-night circuit starting and ending in the pretty coastal town of St Ives. The route wends its way along the dramatic coast via lofty headlands, lonely lighthouses, smugglers’ coves, iron-age forts, ruined castles, the enchanting island hamlet of St Michael’s Mount, Land’s End – England’s most westerly point – and picture-postcard towns such as Mousehole and Sennen Cove. Along the way, guests stay in cosy B&Bs and inns, mostly near the water, and can enjoy traditional local fare such as Cornish pasties, cream teas, saffron cake and crab sandwiches.

Along the way, see where many scenes in ‘Poldark’ were filmed including the enchanting hamlet of  Porthcurno, the ragged bay, Porthgwarra Cove, and the cliff-hugging tin mine, Bottalack.

Including six nights’ bed and breakfast accommodation, daily luggage transfers, route directions and maps, the walk costs from £950 per person, twin-share (approximately A$1851 depending on exchange rates), based on 2024 rates.

Australians and Kiwis who book the Cornwall hike for 2025 can pay 2024 prices, saving around five per cent, if they book by November 30, 2024.
