About MotoSurf
MotoSurf boards are self-powered by compact two-stroke internal combustion engines or electric motors, making them more environmentally friendly and requiring less external equipment compared to traditional surfing. Thanks to their lightweight, compact design, the boards are highly portable, fitting easily into a single car for transport.
MotoSurf is one of the fastest-growing and safest water sports in the world. Officially recognized by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) in 2019, MotoSurf has become a global sensation since its emergence in 2012. UIM, founded in 1922, is the world’s governing body for powerboating activities and is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Currently, UIM MotoSurf competitions use boards exclusively from the Czech brand Jetsurf, demanding exceptional skill and control from the athletes. While the initial investment is significant, the adrenaline-fueled racing experience and highly specialized competition format continue to attract water sports enthusiasts and professional racers worldwide.
Connection to the 2025 World Games
To prepare for the 2025 World Games, UIM has partnered with China’s Water Sports Administration Center to organize a qualifying event in Macao in 2024. The women’s category champion will be named the first official qualifier for the 2025 Chengdu World Games. The 12th World Games will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan, China, in 2025. For the first time, MotoSurf will represent the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) at this prestigious event. As UIM’s youngest discipline, MotoSurf has rapidly expanded over the last five years, hosting world tours across five continents.
