Owned by Sea West and operated by its brand Rottnest Cruises, the award-winning Luxe Island Seafood Cruise is an indulgent day of cruising on board a 69-foot, three-level deluxe charter vessel, centred on a sumptuous sea-to-plate seafood degustation.

Recognised as the best of its kind, Rottnest Cruises has been awarded the best Western Australian Seafood Experience 2024 and was recently named a top three finalist for Seafood Experiences in Australia at the national Seafood Industry Australia awards.

Guests enjoy the unique experience of helping the crew pull up lobster pots, catching a Western Rock Lobster (crayfish) and learning about this sustainable ocean delicacy.

If the freshly caught cray meets sustainability and industry standards, it is prepared and cooked there and then on a barbeque on board the Luxe Island Seafood Cruise for a truly sea-to-plate experience.

The four-hour epicurean odyssey has been overseen by executive chef Tony Howell to showcase of the best Western Australian produce which is served alongside house-made gin cocktails, complimentary glasses of Margaret River Howard Park wines and locally brewed craft beer.

“We source the freshest local seafood which includes Abrolhos Island Scallops, Fremantle Octopus, Shark Bay Tiger Prawns, Cone Bay Barramundi, fresh veg and fruit from the Southern Forests and South West, and of course, just-caught lobster, it doesn’t get any better than this,” said chef Tony Howell.

“The wild-caught produce we serve is all Marine Stewardship Council certified to avoid overfishing, along with some aquaculture seafood from well run, sustainable farms.”

The degustation seafood lunch starts with cocktails and canapes as guests mingle, acquaint themselves with the boat and each other, before being seated at a white tableclothed long table to feast on the freshest local seafood, salads, accompaniments and dessert.

There’s no other dining setting that compares to the enviable vantage point of Rottnest Island’s pristine sandy beaches and iconic ocean blues.

Authentically West Australian, the Luxe Island Seafood Cruise exemplifies Rottnest’s unique character, fishing heritage and breathtaking scenery.

Sea West owner Myrianthe Riddy said it is the only experience of its kind in Australia.

“The Luxe Island Seafood Cruise is a complete sensory experience with incredible views of one of Australia’s most picturesque islands, intoxicating wafts of fresh lobster searing on the barbeque, tastes of delicious local seafood dish after dish, the feel of tingling skin after a cooling dip off the back of the boat, and the gentle sounds of lapping water while cruising,” Ms Riddy said.

While anchored in a pristine bay off Rottnest Island, the float mats are deployed and guests have the option to float or swim or stay on board to blissfully relax on one of the sundecks, or laze in the shade, drink in hand, soaking in the magical 360-degree-views from one of the decks.

Luxe Island Seafood Cruise operates from Rottnest Island until April 2025. Private and corporate bookings are also available.

There are also packages that include return ferry transfers from Hillarys, Perth and Fremantle.
