The Melbourne Cup horse race is an iconic annual event on the Australiancalendar which is held on the first Tuesday in November. A public holiday in its home state and celebrated by antipodeans across the globe, it’s a day of excitement, Champagne, extravagant fashions and celebrations. This year the event will be held on Tuesday November 5th at the new Dusit Thani Bangkok  hotel starting at 9.30am and is proudly supported by the Advance Australia Council (AAC) and the Australian and New Zealand Welcome Group (ANZWG).

The Melbourne Cup Charity Lunch isn’t just a party; it’s also a way to make a real difference for those in need. The AAC brings together professional and social groups with links to Australia and Thailand. It seeks to foster and support those connections. This year, the Melbourne Cup Charity Lunch is raising funds for Hands Across the Water, which supports disadvantaged children and families across Thailand. Proceeds raised at this event will go directly to Hands Across the Water.

The event is sponsored by Amrapur Tailor, Bumrungrad Hospital, Asian Tigers, The Standard Hotel Hua Hin,Pernod Ricard, Silk Legal and Rajawongse Clothier.

There will be a raffle prize pool of over THB1.2 million which includes accommodation packages at international hotels – Dusit Thani Maldives, Avani Seminyak, Dusit Thani Bangkok and Phuket, Centara Reserve Samui, Anantara Vacation Clubs in Phuket and Samui, Four Seasons Hotel Chang Mai, St Regis Bangkok, The Intercontinental Hotel Bangkok, The Marriott Marquis, Baan Laksasubha, Anantara Riverside, D2 Khao Yai to name just a few. There’s also beautiful jewellery pieces from Gemfetti, Desert Diamonds, Lin Jewelers and Tom K Just Be; spa vouchers from Menard and Su Ethetics, Villa Market shopping vouchers, The Food School courses and dining vouchers from many of Bangkok’s leading restaurants including OJO, Aesop’s,Toby’s, Baan Dusit Thani, JHOL, Kai, XII, Mott 32, Punjab Grill

The event is open to everyone and tickets are THB3,500 per person (tables of ten available) and can be purchased online from ticket booking agency – Megatix. The price includes welcome canapes and cocktailson arrival, and a three-course Australian-inspired shared meal served with flowing drinks. Guests will enjoy the Melbourne Cup race streamed live from Australia, a glamorous Fashions on the Field  on the     competition, professional photographers to capture the day, and a chance to win amazing prizes in the raffles including international travel prizes, and a DJ and dancing to round off the day.
