Accor, a leading global hospitality group, proudly presents KarnavALL Batik Indonesia, an exciting celebration of National Batik Day on 2 October 2024. In honour of this cherished Indonesian tradition, Accor’s hotels and resorts in more than 30 destinations throughout the country will feature a series of Batik-inspired activities throughout the month of October, offering guests a truly immersive experience.

These activities will include fashion shows, workshops, exhibitions featuring Batik products from local small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as culinary offerings infused with Batik themes. Guests of all ages will be engaged through a wide variety of events, from interactive activities for children to special discounts for those donning Batik attire.

Garth Simmons, Accor’s Chief Operating Officer, Premium, Midscale & Economy Division in Asia, expressed his excitement, “We are thrilled to celebrate Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage through the KarnavALL Batik Indonesia initiative. This celebration not only honours the exquisite art of Batik but also connects tradition with contemporary experiences, allowing our guests to engage with Indonesian culture in meaningful ways. We are proud to support local communities and small and medium-sized enterprises, showcasing their craftsmanship while offering unique and memorable experiences to our guests.”

At Mercure Bandung City Centre, a collaboration with local small and medium-sized enterprise Tlatah Nusantara will feature a mini Batik showcase in the hotel’s lobby, alongside a Batik talk and fashion show highlighting the work of seven Batik small and medium-sized enterprises from the wider Bandung area.

At Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali, national costume designer Inggi Kendran will lead a workshop and talk show to explore the artistry behind Indonesian Batik, with guests wearing Batik receiving a ten percent discount on food and beverages at Mövenpick Café throughout October.

At Mercure Samarinda and ibis Samarinda, visitors can expect a unique collaboration with emerging Batik artists, designers, and influencers. The hotels will host a talk show, a workshop, a fashion show, and an exhibition spotlighting Batik small and medium-sized enterprises. Guests are invited to participate in an Instagram challenge, sharing photos of themselves in Batik, with the chance to win special prizes.

The public is invited to join the festivities offline and online by following #KarnavALLBatikIndonesia2024 and participating in the various Batik-themed activities throughout the month.
