Australia’s most renowned major live events, conference and creative campaign producers DG Global have today announced the appointment of leading Melbourne tourism and event industry figure Beverley Williamson as General Manager across the company’s Australasian business.
Ms Williamson has joined DG Global after 17 years at the Melbourne Convention Bureau, where her last position was General Manager, Sales, having previously also held the role of Director of International Bidding and Professional Conference Organisers.
Founder and Managing Director of DG Global Dave Green said he was excited to welcome Beverley to the team to lead the next phase of growth for the company, as it reaches its 25year milestone next year.
“I am really excited to hand the reigns to Beverley to continue our growth here in Australia and internationally. She is a real leader in not only securing very competitive bids, but in delivering excellence for both domestic and international clients. Beverley will be an incredible asset to our business as I move my focus to major events and special projects and lean on Beverley’s wisdom, vision and fresh approach.”
Green said Williamson’s Convention Bureau experience was a perfect fit for DG Global’s continued Asian growth strategy. The company has secured Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Qatar Airways across Asia and the Middle East North African Region as a client, and Tourism Australia, the Australian Open and the Victorian Racing Club here in Melbourne, delivering an international quality event experience.
“We started in Perth in 2000 and opened Melbourne five years later and five years after that we opened Singapore with IHG as our anchor delivering across multiple countries,” he said. “Last year we lead the industry in growth post-pandemic and expanded into Indonesia, establishing a strategy across the hotel conference and leisure event market led from Bali.
“As part of that we’re really excited to take our unique intellectual property to Indonesia in partnership with Green Room Investments, pioneered here in Melbourne, which is the best in the world at events and creative industries, to train ambitious young staff in Indonesia to learn a new industry. Beverley will be a huge success as a leader in helping to upskill a new generation of locally engaged event producers across Asia.”
Williamson said she was delighted to join DG Global.
“I’m excited to lead the team at DG and work with Dave, particularly to deliver our SouthEast Asian strategy building on the success of his reputation established in Singapore, with a win already for Singapore Event Experience of the year,” she said.
“With over twenty-five years of experience across Australia and the UK both in sales and operational roles and as part of key teams working alongside private and government partners to secure lucrative international business acquisitions, this role enables me to be both strategic and operational and work across a number of domestic and international markets with the talented DG team.”
The Melbourne Convention Bureau is internationally recognised as one of the region’s most successful conference bid teams, securing major tourism, medical, academic and business conferences for Melbourne working with stakeholders including Tourism Australia, Visit Victoria and Business Events Australia underpinning the state’s reputation as a tourism campaign leader.
The conference tourism market into Australia as preferred MICE destination (meetings, incentives, conference events) is highly lucrative, with a major business event survey from Tourism Australia showing that Australia is the leading incentive destination across 22 categories, including business facilities, safety, security and value for money. Tourism Australia’s figures show that conference sector visitors spend $10.4 billion across food services and accommodation in Australia each year.
DG Global is proud to offer public and private sector clients the ability to draw from Beverley Williamson’s expertise over 17 years growing the Convention Bureau’s commercial and delivery capabilities.
