The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has rolled out an exhilarating new campaign, “Amazing Thailand Passport Privileges,” aiming to wow global visitors with an array of exclusive giveaways, discounts, and travel perks. Running from November 1 to December 16, this initiative is set to captivate travellers from across the globe, enhancing the allure of Thailand as a top destination while simultaneously boosting tourism expenditure across the nation.
Strategic Tourism Revival: Aiming for 36.7 Million Visitors
In line with Thailand’s strategic tourism revival plan, TAT is steadfast in achieving its ambitious goal of welcoming 36.7 million international tourists by the end of 2024. The “Amazing Thailand Passport Privileges” is not merely a short-term initiative but a critical component of a broader scheme to rejuvenate Thailand’s tourism industry, stimulate economic recovery, and support sustainable growth.
“Our focus is on boosting spending in key markets and enhancing travel experiences to ensure that Thailand remains a world-class destination for tourists from both short-haul and long-haul markets,” stated Ms Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor. She emphasized that this initiative is intricately aligned with Thailand’s tourism stimulus policy, which prioritizes economic revitalization and strategic promotions.
Boosting Spend in Hidden Gem Cities
One of the campaign’s core aims is to amplify tourist spending, especially in the often-overlooked Hidden Gem Cities. These regions, known for their rich cultural heritage and untouched natural beauty, are poised to receive a significant boost in visibility and visitor footfall through this initiative.
The project is segmented into four meticulously designed activities to engage tourists and elevate their travel experience:
- “Must Do Souvenirs: From Heart to Hands” Giveaway
Under this activity, 10,000 exclusive souvenirs—representing Thailand’s distinctive culture and craftsmanship—will be handed out to international arrivals at Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, and Phuket Airports. This thoughtful gesture aims to leave a lasting impression on first-time and repeat visitors and showcase Thailand’s renowned hospitality.
- “WOW Thailand: Must-Do Package”
The first 10,000 tourists who complete an online registration will be entitled to a plethora of discounts and special privileges at participating establishments. From luxury accommodations to upscale dining and spa experiences, this initiative is designed to provide tourists with a memorable and seamless travel journey.
- “WOW Thailand: Lucky Number”
This activity offers 20 exclusive holiday packages valued at 700,000 Baht to elevate the excitement further. The concept is straightforward: for every 10,000th tourist arrival—up to 200,000th—TAT will award a package comprising domestic flights, luxury accommodations, and dining discounts, making every milestone arrival a celebration.
- “WOW Thailand: Big Surprise!”
For a grand finale, TAT will present a 300,000 Baht grand prize to a lucky winner who completes a questionnaire through a random picker system. This surprise reward is expected to spark a buzz among the tourist community and further solidify Thailand’s image as a must-visit destination.
Strategic Partnerships and Over 300 Participating Establishments
The initiative is supported by over 300 top-tier establishments across Thailand, spanning luxury hotels, renowned restaurants, health and beauty centres, airlines, and shopping malls to maximise the impact. Participating names include:
- Central Sriracha Shopping Mall
- Sri Panwa Hotel, Phuket
- Best Western Patong Beach Hotel
- InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit
- Masumi Spa Chiang Mai
- Kacha Resort Koh Chang
“We are thrilled to partner with TAT in this remarkable endeavour to elevate Thailand’s tourism industry,” shared Mr Chamnan Srisawat, President of the Tourism Council of Thailand. He reiterated that the campaign’s benefits would be unlocked simply by presenting a passport, making it accessible and enticing for every international traveller.
Airports of Thailand: A Strong Ally in Boosting Tourism
The Airports of Thailand (AOT) supports this campaign by providing dedicated spaces at Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, and Phuket airports for souvenir giveaway booths. Mrs Saranya Boonyawattana, Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy of AOT, highlighted, “This project is a testament to our commitment to positioning Thailand as the premier gateway to Asia for global tourists.”
Stimulating the Economy and Building a Positive Global Image
The “Amazing Thailand Passport Privileges” project is not just about promotions; it’s a strategic effort to showcase Thailand’s resilience and adaptability in a post-pandemic world. The country has long been a favourite among global travellers for its unique blend of cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality. With this new initiative, TAT aims to foster a deeper emotional connection between the country and its visitors, translating to increased tourist spending and repeat visits.
