Hyatt - Logo.In a groundbreaking announcement that promises to reshape Australia’s luxury hospitality landscape, Hyatt Hotels Corporation revealed plans to introduce its upscale Andaz brand to the Gold Coast by mid-2025. Set to become the first Andaz property in Australia and the Pacific region, Andaz Gold Coast will be a marquee addition to The Star Gold Coast, a $2 billion world-class integrated resort.

The Andaz brand, known globally for its imaginative travel ethos, will bring a sophisticated, whimsical experience to Australia’s premier tourist destination, immersing guests in local culture and luxurious surroundings. The introduction of Andaz Gold Coast signals Hyatt’s continued expansion in Australia, building on over 40 years of brand presence in the region.

A Game-Changer for Australian Tourism

The debut of Andaz Gold Coast will elevate the region’s already thriving tourism sector, creating a unique proposition for both domestic and international travellers. According to David Udell, Group President of Hyatt Hotels in Asia Pacific, “Bringing Andaz to Australia’s top resort destination aligns perfectly with Hyatt’s vision to expand our luxury, lifestyle, and leisure offerings in sought-after markets like the Gold Coast. We couldn’t be more excited to add this iconic brand to our diverse portfolio of 10 hotels across Australia.”

Hyatt’s portfolio includes notable properties such as Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, and Hyatt Regency. However, Andaz stands apart for its focus on celebrating self-expression and local culture and offering immersive experiences that stir curiosity. This new addition will be a critical piece of the integrated resort master plan at The Star Gold Coast, an entertainment hub co-developed by Destination Gold Coast Consortium, a joint venture between The Star Entertainment Group, Far East Consortium, and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises.

The Star Gold Coast’s $2 Billion Transformation

Part of a more significant $2 billion investment into The Star Gold Coast, Andaz Gold Coast will occupy 15 floors (levels 6–21) of the second tower, a striking 65-story addition to the Broadbeach Island skyline. The hotel will boast 202 guest rooms and suites, each designed to blend modern luxury with the coastal allure of the Gold Coast. Guests can access three on-site dining venues, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, and an expansive outdoor pool deck featuring private cabanas and a stylish beach club.

The resort’s design, conceptualized by DBI Architects and Hachem, draws inspiration from the Gold Coast’s natural beauty. The theme, aptly named ‘Chase the Sun,’ will see light transitions from dawn to dusk reflected in the hotel’s architecture and interior spaces, creating a dynamic environment that encourages creativity and relaxation.

Elevating the Gold Coast Experience

Steve McPharlin, General Manager of Hotels at The Star Gold Coast, believes the new addition will solidify the area’s status as a global tourism hotspot. “Andaz Gold Coast represents a monumental leap forward in our ongoing transformation of The Star Gold Coast,” McPharlin shared. “Not only will this project provide new jobs and boost the local economy, but it will also create unparalleled guest experiences that showcase the very best of our region.”

With the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre just minutes away, the resort will offer convenient access to premier attractions. Guests looking for adventure can explore nearby theme parks, rainforests, and the iconic sandy beaches for which the Gold Coast is famous.

A Boost for Australia’s Tourism Industry

The Gold Coast remains one of Australia’s most visited destinations, with more than 4 million domestic tourists in the past year alone. As international arrivals steadily rebound, the timing of Andaz Gold Coast’s opening couldn’t be better for the region’s post-pandemic recovery.

Patricia O’Callaghan, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism and Events Queensland, heralded the announcement as a significant boost for the local tourism industry. “The arrival of an international luxury brand like Andaz is a strong signal of confidence in the Gold Coast’s future. This project enhances our global appeal and strengthens the city’s position as a world-class destination for travelers seeking top-tier experiences,” she stated.

The Future of Luxury in the Pacific

The Andaz Gold Coast will join a prestigious roster of nearly 30 Andaz properties worldwide, including flagship hotels in Tokyo, Singapore, New York, and London and resort destinations like Bali and Maui. Hyatt’s strategic move to bring lifestyle hotels to vibrant cities and iconic travel destinations globally aligns with the Gold Coast’s brand introduction.

As the first Andaz in Australia, the property is set to redefine luxury accommodation in the region, offering a unique blend of local culture, art, and world-class service. With its debut set for 2025, Andaz Gold Coast will mark a milestone for Hyatt and contribute significantly to Australia’s evolving luxury tourism landscape.
