South African Airways - logoIn response to growing passenger demand, South African Airways (SAA) is significantly increasing the frequency of its nonstop flights between Perth and Johannesburg, enhancing connections between Australia and Africa. This move reflects SAA’s commitment to meeting the needs of Australian travellers while reinforcing its position as a leading carrier between the two continents.

Starting on 8 December 2024, SAA will increase the number of weekly flights from Perth to Johannesburg to four, offering more opportunities for travellers to explore South Africa and beyond. An additional service will follow on 7 January 2025, pushing the total to five weekly flights. This expansion marks a pivotal step in SAA’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the Australasia-Africa market, providing seamless, efficient, and reliable air travel for leisure and business passengers.

Enhanced Connectivity for Australian Travelers

As SAA prepares for this exciting development, Australian passengers, particularly those on the East Coast, will benefit from even greater convenience. Thanks to SAA’s codeshare partnerships with Virgin Australia and Qantas Airways, travellers from cities like Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane can effortlessly connect to these enhanced services out of Perth. This will make South African destinations even more accessible for Australians, fueling tourism and business exchanges between the regions.

“SAA is proud to respond to increasing demand by expanding our offerings on the Perth-Johannesburg route,” said an SAA spokesperson. “This increase not only highlights the popularity of travel between Australia and South Africa, but also reinforces our commitment to providing world-class service to our passengers. We’re excited to offer more flexibility and travel options for those heading to Africa.”

New Flight Schedule for Johannesburg and Perth

The revised flight schedule offers even more options for efficient, convenient travel between Australia and Africa. Starting 7 December 2024, flights from Johannesburg will depart at 8:35 PM on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, arriving in Perth the following day at 12:10 PM. From 6 January 2025, an additional flight will be added, departing Johannesburg on Mondays.

Flights from Perth will depart at 11:55 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, arriving in Johannesburg at 5:10 AM the following day. From 7 January 2025, travellers can also take advantage of an extra flight departing Perth on Tuesdays, further boosting the route’s flexibility.

A Win for Australian and African Travelers

This increased frequency of flights between Perth and Johannesburg comes when the demand for travel between Australia and Africa is reaching new heights. Whether for tourism, business, or connecting to other parts of the continent, the expanded flight options will enhance travel opportunities, especially as Africa continues to grow as a prime destination for Australian tourists.

As the travel landscape continues to evolve, SAA’s decision to boost its Perth-Johannesburg route clearly indicates the airline’s forward-thinking approach. With more flights, better connections, and enhanced convenience, SAA is poised to meet the growing demand for travel between Australia and South Africa while maintaining its reputation for excellence.
