TCEB at PTM.Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) brought high-profile industry players on one platform from 27 – 29 August 2024 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) Bangkok to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the relocation of the PATA Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand.

PTM welcomed more than 900 delegates from 45 countries, including 266 exhibitors from 168 organizations and 24 destinations and 199 buyers from 173 organizations across 31 source markets.

PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid said, “PATA Travel Mart 2024 exemplifies our commitment to the future of Asia Pacific tourism by being a platform for high-quality buyers and sellers from Asia Pacific and beyond. It reflects the Association’s mission to promote sustainable growth, drive innovation, and foster collaboration within the Asia Pacific region.

On August 27, the PATA Media Briefing was held at the Foreign Correspondent Club of Thailand (FCCT) and covered PATA’s current and upcoming international initiatives.

PTM 2024 commenced with the PATA Knowledge Forum 2024, featuring sessions centred on “Reimagining Responsible Tourism for a Regenerative Future.” The forum offered valuable insights into the evolving tourism industry, covering key topics such as sustainability integration, cybersecurity challenges, and the future role of travel agents.

During the Knowledge Forum, PATA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Tourism Seasonality Summit.

The official opening ceremony on August 28 featured a contemporary Muay Thai performance and was officiated by Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand; Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO); Puripan Bunnag, Senior Vice President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB); and Ben Montgomery, Chair of the PATA Thailand Chapter and Executive Board.

The Macao Government Tourism Office hosted the PATA Gold Awards Lunch and Awards Presentation, which celebrated 24 winners across two key categories: Marketing and Sustainability and Social Responsibility.

PATA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Sanya Tourism Board, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership focused on sustainable tourism growth in Sanya and tropical islands across the Asia Pacific region.

As part of the MOU, both parties have committed to jointly organising the Tropical Coastal City Tourism Event in Sanya for three consecutive years from 2024 to 2026 to expand Sanya’s influence within the global island tourism industry”.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Platinum Sponsor, Gold Sponsors, and Korea Tourism Organization supported PTM.

The day concluded with a Welcome Reception hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), themed “Thai Temple Fair.”

Delegates experienced guided, unique sight-seeing bike tours to explore Bangkok’s back streets, a walking tour around the markets of Chinatown, and discovering the Venice of Asia on long-tail boats.
