tokyo-lights_ari_kv_yoko_0813This year marks the 4th year of the “TOKYO LIGHTS 2024” which will be held from Saturday, September 14th to Monday, September 16th (National Holiday), 2024, at Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery and Rubber-ball Baseball Ground at Meijijingu Gaien.

We are excited to announce that “AYAKAKI” from the largest VTuber group in Japan, “NIJISANJI”, has been appointed as the official ambassadors for this event. The special opening shows on each day will feature spectacular light entertainment using music from “NIJISANJI”.

Additionally, we are planning to hold another edition of TOKYO LIGHTS 2024 at the same location in November 2024.

In June this year, a new group made its debut under the NIJISANJI label, consisting of five VTubers: Shiga Riko, Tamanoi Nana, Kisara, Kozue Mone, and one pet-like character, Lunlun. This group is commonly known as “Ayakaki.”

What is the “1minute Projection Mapping Competition”, one of the world’s largest international projection mapping contest?           

The “1minute Projection Mapping Competition” is a well-known international competition that started in Japan in 2012. It focuses on short projection mapping works lasting from one to just under two minutes. This year, the theme is “Mirror,” and the competition received entries from 278 teams across 56 countries. 18 finalists from 14 countries are competing. The final battle for the top prize of 2 million yen and the title of the world’s best will take place at at Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery at Meijijingu Gaien.

Harry Sugiyama, a well-known TV host, will lead the award ceremony on the 16th, with actress and newscaster Aki Shibuya helping to add excitement as the co-host.

<Harry Sugiyama (Awards Ceremony Host) Profile>

Born in Tokyo and raised in the UK, Harry Sugiyama is a multilingual talent fluent in Japanese, English, Chinese, and French. He is active in various roles including host, reporter, model, and actor. In 2023, he was appointed as a “Tokyo Tourism Ambassador” by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

His notable appearances include numerous programs such as CX’s “Nonstop!”, TX’s “Tokyo GOOD!”, NHK BS’s “Ransuma Club”, BS11’s “World Fight CLIP!”, and J-WAVE’s “POP OF THE WORLD”, among many others.

Admission to TOKYO LIGHTS 2024 is free (advance registration required) for anyone.

The Projection Mapping Viewing Area offers both paid seating and a free standing area.

For those who wish to enjoy the powerful visuals of the international competition while seated, paid seats are available.

There are 200 free seats available on a first-come, first-served basis for those under 18 years old.
