The Australian Government’s official travel advisory for Egypt through the Smartraveller system was lowered yesterday from Level 3: ‘Reconsider Your Need to Travel’ to Level 2: ‘Exercise a High Degree of Caution’. This places Egypt at the same advisory level as Germany, The UK, France, Kenya, Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia and many other travel destinations popular with Australian travellers.
Bunnik Tours, who has been operating small group tours to Egypt for the past 20 years has welcomed this long overdue downward revision of the travel advisory. “Egypt has captured the hearts of travellers for over 2,000 years and has one of the most organised and sophisticated group touring industries in the world. This change in advisory finally brings Australia’s advice in line with that of the UK Foreign Office. I, together with my industry colleagues, have been requesting this review for some time and it is great to see it finally happen” said Bunnik Tours Joint-CEO Dennis Bunnik.
“There is nothing on earth like standing in front of the Pyramids, sailing down the Nile or walking around the corner and catching your first ever glimpse of Abu Simbel. Egypt is a truly breathtaking destination.”
The tourism industry plays a vital role within the Egyptian economy and is a key driver for jobs across all levels of society. In Egypt, tourism helps create education and career opportunities across the entire country and at every level of society. Dennis said “This is a massive boost for the people of Egypt and for every Australian who has ever dreamt of visiting Egypt. Now is their time!”
Travel to Egypt by Australian travellers is expected to surge in coming months with the high season for travel starting on 1st October and running through to early May.
Dennis Bunnik is one of the Australian travel industry’s leading experts on Egyptian tourism having visited the country over 30 times. He was also the only Australian travel manager in Egypt at the time of the 2011 Arab Spring, helping evacuate Australian travellers back to safety. Bunnik Tours has operated several thousand small group tours to Egypt over the past 20 years and enabled well over 10,000 Australian travellers to experience this incredible destination.
Bunnik Tours has a range of small group tours available to Egypt and Jordan departing throughout the year. Full details can be found at https://www.bunniktours.com.au/tours/egypt-and-middle-east
