Radisson Hotel Group has reached another major milestone in its Asia Pacific expansion strategy with the signing of Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton, a contemporary and fully connected hotel that will mark this upper-midscale brand’s debut in Australia. When this newly converted property opens its doors in the fourth quarter of 2024, Park Inn by Radisson will introduce an exciting new era of feel-good, stress-free hospitality to this global city.

Situated in the suburb of Parkville, Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton is surrounded by top tier universities, hospital precincts, recreation centers and leisure attractions, just 3km from Melbourne’s CBD. Following the conversion of an existing hotel, it will undergo a complete renovation and redesign to align with Park Inn by Radisson’s international standards. This demonstrates the brand’s commitment to energizing the hospitality scene in key destinations and driving rapid growth.

Melbourne is the ideal location for Australia’s inaugural Park Inn by Radisson hotel. Consistently named as one of the world’s most livable cities, Victoria’s state capital is a thriving hub of culture, cuisine and commerce. It is also one of the world’s great sporting cities, with iconic annual events such as the Australian Open tennis, Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, the AFL Premiership Season Grand Final, the Boxing Day Test cricket match, the Melbourne Cup horse racing festival and more. This makes Melbourne one of Australia’s most popular tourism destinations; the city attracted 10.3 million overnight visitors in 2023, including a large number of Asian visitors.

Within the Parkville suburb, the hotel places guests on the doorstep of Australia’s top biotech and neuroscience R&D facilities, and Monash University, which is known for its Pharmaceutical Studies faculty. It is also situated close to Royal Park and Royal Melbourne Zoo, and opposite Princes Park, the home of Carlton Football Club, the leading AFL team. Melbourne’s CBD can be reached in just 12-15 minutes via the convenient tram network, and the city’s Tullamarine Airport is 20km away.

Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton will feature 89 bright and well-equipped rooms, ranging from the 25-square meter Standard rooms to the 34-square meter Deluxe rooms, all of which feature signature “Sleep Well” bedding, contemporary furnishings, and refreshing bathrooms. Guests can work out at the gym, cool off in the pool, or stay connected and productive in two meeting rooms. The vibrant all-day dining restaurant and casual grab & go café provide a choice of culinary options, including an energizing breakfast, and every stay will be underpinned by the brand’s “Yes I Can” service philosophy.

A representative of Star Capital Group, parent of Frater Capital Group Pty Ltd, said: “We are delighted to partner with Radisson Hotel Group, one of the world’s leading international hotel groups, to debut the Park Inn by Radisson brand in Australasia. The contemporary Park Inn by Radisson, Melbourne Carlton, is the ideal market introduction to this upper-midscale brand. We have plans to continue to expand our hotel portfolio in Australasia and we eagerly anticipate further opportunities for collaboration with Radisson.

Victor Kondarios, Director, Development, Australasia, RHG, added: “We are excited for this opportunity to introduce Park Inn by Radisson to Australia. Melbourne is one of the world’s most iconic cities with attractions for business and leisure travelers. Frater Capital Group is a strong company looking to grow its hotel portfolio. We are delighted to enter into this relationship with them, which includes a full range of support services such as revenue management, sales and marketing. We look forward to developing more hotels together in the future as we continue to expand across Australia.”

Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton will be the group’s third hotel in Australia, and fifth hotel in Australasia, joining Radisson Hotel on Flagstaff Gardens Melbourne, Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Sydney, Radisson Blu Denarau Fiji, and Grand Papua a member of Radisson Individuals in Port Moresby. Additional hotels are also under construction in the region.
