Leading global trip planner Rome2Rio today announces that it has expanded its support to 17 new languages, bringing the the total number to 24.  With the increase, around 60% of the global population, or almost 5 billion people, can use the platform in their first language.
The newly added languages are:

  • Before the increase, the platform supported English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Italian.
“By expanding our language support, we aim to empower more travellers worldwide to use our unique global content across all modes of transport to plan their trips easily,” said Yesh Munnangi, CEO and Managing Director of Rome2Rio. “Our goal is to simplify the trip planning process, making it easier and more efficient for everyone, regardless of what language they speak or where they are in the world.”
The expansion is available on Rome2Rio’s desktop and mobile web versions, with the app set to follow next year. The initiative reflects Rome2Rio’s commitment to being the world’s trusted companion for planning travel, building upon its existing user base.
The new languages were rolled out over the past three months. The translations used Artificial Intelligence systems and human translators to ensure quality.
The announcement comes during a period of solid growth for Rome2Rio. In the first half of 2024, the company saw a 17% year-on-year growth in global searches, reaching 194 million compared to 165 million in the same period in 2023.
Rome2Rio provides comprehensive transport information for travelling from one destination to another. The top five countries searched in 2024 so far were Italy, the United States, Spain, France and the United Kingdom. Asia has experienced an increased volume of searches as well, with search volume for Japan increasing 41% year-on-year, South Korea’s 29% and Thailand’s 31%.
Train searches on the platform have surged by 170% since pre-COVID levels in 2019, indicating a growing interest in this mode of transport.
Rome2Rio remains a vital resource for travellers worldwide, with over 40 million monthly users in peak months. The company gathers data from over 12,000 transport operators across 240 countries and territories and covers 10 million locations globally to provide dynamic multimodal transport itineraries.
The platform offers ticket booking via partners or directly with transport operators, ensuring a seamless planning experience for its users.
