In alignment with our commitment to environmental conservation, including the protection of endangered species, InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort and Holiday Inn Bali Sanur hosted a baby turtle release event in Semawang Beach, Sanur.

The Semawang Beach. located in front of the InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort remains a favored nesting site for female sea turtles. Approximately two months ago, our team discovered a turtle egg nest on the beach. To ensure their safety and protect from attacks by other animals and humans, we placed a protective cover over the nest, allowing the eggs to incubate undisturbed for about 60 days. After the hatchlings emerged, we carefully transferred them to a large seawater tank, where we provided nourishment and care to prepare them for their eventual release into the ocean, there were 89 hatchlings.

After two weeks and the hatchlings were strong enough, we successfully released them into the wild. Guests staying at the InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort and the Holiday Inn Bali Sanur were invited to participate in this baby turtle release program. By taking part, they helped contribute to the long-term survival of this endangered species. We gathered at the beach on Wednesday, July 14, 2024, at 10:30 am. Each baby turtle was placed individually in a bowl, with children given priority to release them, fostering good conservation habits from an early age.

“We must help to protect this endangered animal by supporting the environmental conservation, as sea turtle are integral to both coastal and marine ecosystems. If the sea turtle became extinct, both the ecosystems would be negatively affected, which is turn would negatively impact humans.” Said Mr. Nandar Kusumah, the Director of Operational of Holiday Inn Bali Sanur. He added, “This aligns with the IHG Giving For Good commitment, as we are dedicated to making a positive difference for our community and our planet.”
