Singapore Airlines, voted Best Airline in Asia in Skytrax’s 2024 World Airline Awards, is partnering with the Art Gallery to provide international flights for key personnel involved in its program of international exhibitions.

In 2024, the partnership is supporting the Art Gallery’s winter blockbuster exhibition Alphonse Mucha: Spirit of Art Nouveau (on display until 22 September 2024), and the Sydney International Art Series 2024–25 exhibitions, Magritte (26 October 2024 – 9 February 2025) and Cao Fei: My City is Yours (30 November 2024 – 13 April 2025). In October, Singapore Airlines will bring the Magritte exhibition lenders to Sydney from Brussels via the airline’s new flight path from the Belgian capital, which they are proud to return to after more than 20 years.

Art Gallery of New South Wales director Michael Brand said: ‘Our partnership with Singapore Airlines, enables the Art Gallery to bring our international colleagues to Sydney to work directly with our curatorial team, supporting the delivery of unparalleled international art experiences for our growing audience of 2 million visitors annually. Already, one in five of our visitors is from overseas.’

The announcement coincides with Singapore Airlines increasing international flights to Australia, with Sydney benefiting from some of the additional 4,700 seats. From Sydney, Singapore Airlines offers seamless connectivity through the award-winning Changi Airport to a global network of more than 100 destinations, including destinations across Southeast Asia, Europe, North Asia, and West Asia.

Singapore Airlines regional vice president Louis Arul said: ‘Singapore Airlines’ global network connecting Sydney with major cities across the globe ensures even more visitors can experience the best of Sydney’s vibrant arts and culture. We are proud to support one of the nation’s oldest and most celebrated cultural institutions and build on our legacy of support for the arts in Australia.’

The partnership with the Art Gallery adds to Singapore Airlines’ deep engagement with the arts, since flights to Sydney commenced in 1967, as the official airline for Art Exhibitions Australia since 1988 and the West Australian Ballet since 1972.

This year, the partnership will also support the Art Gallery Society’s series of International Study Tours, which are related to the Art Gallery’s exhibition program.

The Art Gallery’s Society’s International Study Tours are intimate, guided travel experiences offering immersive experiences of art movements, artists and art forms in the cities where the artwork was created. The series begins in October with a tour to Brussels and Paris delving into the world of the Surrealists. A second tour in December will travel to Japan. Singapore Airlines will offer guests taking part in the Brussels and Paris tour a discount on economy, premium economy and business class flights on one of four flights offered per week to Brussels.
