INTERNATIONAL RAIL - logoInternational Rail has unveiled its fully operational trade booking platform, signalling a transformative shift for travel agents. After a successful soft launch earlier this year, owner and managing director Jonathan Hume has confirmed that the new system is now accessible to all agents, significantly improving the booking process.

The launch of this platform has been a game-changer for International Rail, which has seen a rapid expansion in line with growing demand. The company has expanded its local support team from six to 26 members and experienced a threefold increase in revenue over the past 18 months. Hume attributes much of this success to the new platform’s capabilities.

“By incorporating an offline/complex rail itineraries component, the booking experience becomes significantly smoother from when a quote or booking is requested until receipt of the tickets,” Hume stated. This enhancement ensures that agents can provide a seamless service to their clients, efficiently handling even the most intricate itineraries.

A standout feature of the new platform is its live-chat service, enabling travel advisors to communicate directly with a local team member for quick query resolution. This personalized approach, free from automated responses, significantly improves customer service and responsiveness.

The state-of-the-art platform also offers innovative features designed to enhance agent efficiency. Agents can now view and track bookings in real-time, make credit card payments, and access tickets online, streamlining the booking process. Additionally, the ability to download customer-friendly PDF attachments of train and ferry itineraries—without displaying pricing or commission details—allows agents to present options to clients seamlessly for approval.

“This new service further cements International Rail’s reputation as a leading local Australian one-stop shop for agents, enabling them to create comprehensive rail holiday experiences for their clients,” Hume added.

International Rail’s commitment to improving the agent experience and boosting operational efficiency positions the company as a critical player in the rail travel industry. The new platform is expected to drive further growth and solidify its market position.
