2024-06-27MSCCruisesEvent-3736Australians have the Mediterranean on their mind this northern hemisphere winter with new data from MSC Cruises Australia revealing demand for itineraries to the European region are up by nearly 60 per cent this upcoming season.

Lisa Teiotu, Managing Director Australasia of MSC Cruises, the market leader in the Mediterranean, believes the growth can be attributed to the region’s scenic beauty and cultural richness coupled with the great value that a best-in-class cruise holiday offers families of all ages.

“Australians are looking for a holiday option that explores stunning European destinations without the expense and hassle of taking many flights, and we’re catering to this demand by offering a variety of dedicated itineraries in the region throughout the year,” Ms Teiotu said.

“With milder weather to explore the historical sites and cultural delights of the region, we’ve found Australians are really drawn to sailings that offer a taste of the East and West Mediterranean coastline.”

MSC Cruises, one of the world’s largest cruise operators, has 14 ships operating in Mediterranean waters at various seasons during the year.

The cruise line’s most popular seven-night itineraries include Eastern Mediterranean escapes which encompass Croatia and the ancient city of Dubrovnik, the stunning Greek islands of Mykonos & Santorini and World Heritage listed Ancona in Italy.

While in the West Med, Australians are drawn to week-long cruises traversing the best of Italy, Malta, Spain and France where guests can explore Portofino & Pompeii, Sicily’s Messina, the 16th century elegance of Valletta, Barcelona and the Provence region of France from Marseille.

To take in all the highlights of the Med during one cruise holiday, MSC Cruises offers guests the ultimate combination-cruise called the Grand Mediterranean which offers the best of the East and West region and includes a same day transfer between Venice and Genoa.

MSC Cruises’ exclusive and unique flexi-porting option allows guests to choose their port of embarkation. Whether it is Barcelona in Spain, Genoa in Italy, Marseille in France, Hamburg in Germany or Copenhagen, Denmark, holidaymakers can seamlessly connect to the ship from across Europe to access the destinations they wish to visit.
