Norwegian continues to expand at Stockholm Arlanda Airport by launching a new direct route to Skellefteå Airport, starting on 28 October. Skellefteå is a part of the rapidly developing business climate focused on sustainability that is emerging in the northern parts of Sweden, a development which increase the demand for extended connectivity to the region.

For companies and industries focused on the transition into a more sustainable future, northern Sweden is of great interest. As the socioeconomic development continue to increase in the region, so does the demand for infrastructure and accessibility. Skellefteå is expected to undergo a significant development in the coming years, with new business establishing and existing ones expanding, further stressing the importance of a well-established connectivity to the region.

– We’re always happy when Norwegian launches new routes from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, but a new domestic route is of course especially welcome! Strong domestic air travel options are important for people’s opportunities to meet throughout the country and to travel further out into the world, both privately and for business, says Elizabeth Axtelius, Director Aviation Business at Swedavia. Norwegian has a longstanding presence at Swedavias airports, and I am delighted that they continue to expand by adding new important routes to their vast network.

– The development in Skellefteå with many companies investing heavily in the region increases the need for excellent connectivity to the rest of the world. Currently, there is a limited supply of flights to and from Skellefteå and it is therefore pleasing that we can announce today that we will operating a route between Stockholm and Skellefteå, says Norwegian’s CEO Geir Karlsen.

The new direct route between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Skellefteå Airport will operate five days a week; on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays starting October 28th, 2024.
