The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, under its Responsible Tourism Mission (RTM), has established 130 eco-friendly rural homestays in 41 villages. These initiatives, aligned with the 2024 World Environment Day theme ‘Land Restoration, Resilience to Desertification and Drought’ and slogan ‘Our Land, Our Future’, aims to engage the local population for sustainable tourism. This project not only generates local employment and curbs urban migration but also promotes vernacular architecture, organic farming, and local cuisine. With an ambitious goal to support 1000 homestays in 100 villages, Madhya Pradesh is set to become a leading destination for eco-friendly tourists.

The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board is on a mission to attract Buddhist pilgrims worldwide by developing a dedicated Buddhist Circuit. This initiative aims to connect Sanchi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with prominent Buddhist centers like Bodhgaya and Sarnath. Among the various initiatives taken by the Board are displaying the sacred relics of Lord Buddha’s disciples Arhant Sariputra and Arhant Mahamogalyan at the Sanam Luang Pavilion in Bangkok, Ho Kum Luang, Royal Rajapruik, Chiang Mai, Wat Maha Vanaram, Ubon Ratchathani and Wat Mahathat, Oluk, Krabi, from  February 22, 2024 to  March 18, 2024.
