Traditional First Nations storytelling meets cutting-edge technology at Gumbuya Dreaming, Gumbuya World’s inaugural winter light event, opening tomorrow, June 8.

Thousands of Victorians are set to witness this spectacle, which will run on weekends and every night during school holidays through to July 21.

The mesmerising digital experience, created by Yarnology and led by acclaimed Indigenous artist Wayne Quilliam, takes visitors on a journey through 60,000 years of dreaming, intertwining artistic mastery with the rich tapestry of First Nations stories.

Starting at the park gates, families will step into a vibrant celebration of Aboriginal culture. The journey begins with a smoking ceremony at the entrance, followed by a walk through the Plaza, where shifting colours set the stage for the Gumbuya Gathering Zone. Here a smoky sculpture surrounded by dynamic lighting invites reflection and connection.

In the Fire and Water Zone, the Lazy River transforms into a billabong with dynamic lasers and Indigenous fire dance performances. Meanwhile, the Land & Animals Zone offers a walk along the Wildlife Trail, where visitors can learn the stories of the Bogong Moth and interact with wildlife.

In addition to the light experience, Gumbuya World’s thrilling rides and rollercoasters, including TNT, Project Zero and Tree Swing, will operate at night, adding to the excitement. Nearby, a range of food trucks offers an extensive selection, including calamari, churros, chicken skewers and potato twisters.

There is also a fully licensed pop-up bar, mulled wine and snack stations to warm visitors through their journey.

At the heart of Gumbuya lies its Aboriginal meaning, “meeting place”. Be among the first to witness this extraordinary fusion of culture and creativity. Don’t miss out – book your tickets now to Gumbuya Dreaming. Tickets start at $49 for General Admission.
