As summer heats up, travelers must ask themselves hard-hitting questions, such as “am I going on vacation to unwind, or am I going on vacation to work up a sweat?” According to the Pinterest Summer Travel Report, consumers are seeking duality in their destinations: searches for “adventure activities” are up 45% while searches for “quiet places” are up 50%. Enter Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, a nature-forward, luxurious sanctuary nestled on the northern coast of Puerto Rico. The estate boasts a guest experience that melds these two burgeoning priorities. A storied magnet to escape the world, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is home to Ambassadors of the Environment, a program that advocates for the protection of ecosystems through hands-on programming that encourages a deeper connection to the interconnectedness of our planet.
Created by Jean-Michel Cousteau to carry on his family’s tradition of ocean preservation and education, Ambassadors of the Environment offers activities for all ages and spotlights biodiversity, sustainability, environmental conservation and beyond. At Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, guests can enjoy:
  • Stargazing – Astro-tourism is all the rage, and the clear skies of Puerto Rico await. Bathe in the wisdom of the cosmos and take a closer peek at constellations through the telescope.
  • Snorkeling – Swim alongside communities of fish, coral and algae in nearby coral reefs. This activity can additionally be timed to sunset or night (using flashlights) or include an underwater photography lesson.
  • Sunrise or Sunset Kayak Tour – Explore nearby bays, enjoy the surrounding landscape and paddle over seagrass beds at the opening or closing golden hour bookends of the day.
  • Coqui Experience – Visit the estate’s Pterocarpus Forest at night to witness the natural symphony of amphibians and other creatures.
