Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong marks the pinnacle of a multi-year transformation with the launch of The Shangri-La Suite – reinventing the art of glamorous living with a striking super suite designed as the ultimate space for sophisticated, design-conscious global travellers.

Although spacious, the 222-square-metre two-bedroom The Shangri-La Suite feels inviting and warm, redolent of a stylish private residence and offering a blend of layered colours, textures and patterns combined with crafted pieces and fine art.

The attention to detail is remarkable, from the thoughtful, flexible layout that can be reconfigured for special events to the décor, a collage of vintage and modern, and influences from around the world – from hand tufted rugs, woven wall coverings and opulent hand-blown crystal chandeliers to art selected from Shangri-La’s extensive collection.

The Shangri-La Suite is also primed with special lighting points, ceiling-mounted audio-visual speakers, perimeter hanging rails, and furniture that can be reconfigured for different events, from a traditional wedding or tea ceremony to a private trunk show, offering total flexibility.

Clifford Weiner, General Manager of Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong states: “We are incredibly proud to launch The Shangri-La Suite as the next step in our multi-year transformation of Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong. This is a bold maximalist space that is distinctly contemporary.; its interiors are infused with worldly panache as well as Shangri-La’s renowned Asian hospitality – creating the perfect setting for a memorable stay, event or a celebration in the heart of Hong Kong.”

The Foyer, Sitting Room & Bar and Dining Room – ideal for hosting events and parties

The Shangri-La Suite welcomes guests with an elegant foyer wrapped in richly veined marble, softly curved walls with woven wallpaper, antiqued mirror, sage green lacquer, and the thoughtfully curated collection of art and design is evocative of modern chinoiserie.

Picture windows enfold The Shangri-La Suite’s Sitting Room & Bar and dining rooms, master bedroom and ensuite bathroom in breath-taking views of Victoria Harbour and the city’s iconic landmarks.

The Sitting Room & Bar reflects this extraordinary backdrop in an 8-metre-long landscape mural – a modern take on ancient guó huà Chinese landscape paintings – depicting historic Kowloon.

Bold and distinctive, every detail is eloquently expressed, from the marble and onyx flooring and furniture, as well as the rich velvet and silk embellished with hand crafted passementerie braids, trims, and tassels in jewel box shades, to elegant, moulded cornices and coving, and a luminous hand-blown chandelier. A glamorous cocktail bar topped with a jade green marble counter is equipped with a wine fridge and all the accoutrements for a cocktail party.

The adjoining dining room is defined by its whimsical and vibrant garden theme – a nod to Hong Kong’s tropical landscape – woven and embroidered fabrics on the walls and plush chairs add a splash of feminine elegance, the solid marble table seats ten, and two French hand-blown crystal chandeliers add to the distinctive dining experience.

Splendid his and hers dressing rooms feature spacious walk-in wardrobes, a safe equipped with a cascade of jewellery drawers, a full-height three-way mirror, and a dressing table with colourchanging lighting. Chinoiserie floral woven wall coverings add a haute couture feel, and there are open shelves for personal items.

There is a separate bedroom too with its own enchanting Chinese landscape mural and bathroom, and an adjoining third guest room can be added by request. Both rooms can also be reconfigured into a private spa, gym or office.

The capacious spa-inspired ensuite bathroom sets a benchmark for modern luxury in Hong Kong. A visual feast, richly veined dark marble dominates, defining and shaping the space with an extraordinary palette. This sensuous sanctuary has walk-in twin rainforest showers, a heated bench, and two vanity tops as well as window seats by movable louvres that offer a grandstand view of the mesmerising harbour. The tour de force is the dramatic, deep, oversized bathtub by the window conceived for pure contemplation.
