Expedition cruise specialists of the Pacific, Captain Cook Cruises Fiji has announced super savings with six nights free for new bookings on its inaugural 14-night Southern Lau and Tonga Whale Migration cruise departing in August this year.

Timed to align with the annual humpback whale migration through Tongan waters in August, the 14-night voyage onboard expedition small sip MS Caledonian Sky sails through Fiji’s rarely visited Southern Lau group of islands on the way to Tonga.

Guests making a new booking on either of the expedition’s two 2024 departures – August 17 and 31 – can enjoy whale-sized savings, paying only eight nights for the 14-night cruise with six nights for free.

Guests on the cruise will visit Fiji’s and Tonga’s remote villages and islands, enjoy whale-watching and have the incredible chance to swim with whales during their pan-Pacific migration. In Southern Lau, guests witness the intricate limestone caves of Vatoa and Ono-i-Lau Islands, offering a glimpse into the caves’ mysterious depths.  Also explored are the remote islands of Matuki, and Buliya plus the magnificent Fulaga.

Included is a first-hand experience of nature’s awe-inspiring power at Tofua Volcano, surrounded by rugged landscape and black-sand beaches in the Ha’apai group of islands. Guests can discover Tonga’s rich cultural heritage in Tongatapu, exploring ancient archaeological sites and vibrant markets.

There’s more to enjoy onboard, onshore and in the pristine waters of the remote South Pacific than ever before on MS Caledonian Sky, with fares including exclusive access to remote destinations via the ship’s 10 Zodiacs with its 10-person expedition team of marine biologists and cultural experts. Snorkelling, marine biologist-led glass bottom kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding, guided hikes, village- and cultural visits and tours are all included.

Guests enjoy all-day dining plus complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks during lunch and dinner, and tea and coffee. Onboard, there’s a gym, spa (treatments additional), spacious boutique-style guest suites – many with private balconies, an open-air sky deck, two lounges and alfresco dining. Rates are extra for optional PADI 5 Star scuba diving.
