Go North East, the region’s leading bus company, is gearing up for the start of its hugely successful Toon Tour after taking the ‘UK’s Best Open Top Bus’ title. The team marked the occasion by inviting Alex Warner, Chief Executive of Great Scenic Journeys, to join them on a lap of honour around ‘The Toon’.
The Toon Tour was voted the ‘UK’s Best Open Top Bus’ when it gained an outstanding 62% of the public vote, going up against 32 other open top bus tours from across the country. The new season starts on 25 May 2024 and is set to be even better, with newly refurbished buses and an enhanced commentary full of fascinating facts about the city, voiced by Hits Radio superstars, Steve and Karen.
Laura Sharp, Head of Marketing at Go North East, said: “What a great way to get the team together and remind everyone that we ended the season, up there, top of the league! To celebrate our success, we’re offering all visitors a 20% discount off our Discovery tickets until the 2 June. That’s just £10 for a day ticket and you can hop on and off as many times as you like!”
Alex Warner said: “The Toon Tour really is a brilliant, fun-packed, invigorating adventure through this eclectic, iconic location where there’s always something great going on! Lovely customer service, fab views and a wonderful commentary were the recipe for success! Although it was a hotly contested competition, it’s clear there was no fog on the Tyne as Toon Tour, roared on by its passionate fans, sealed the trophy in style! Glory glory Go North East!”
The tour offers visitors an unparalleled open-top view of the city’s landmarks, culture, and history. From the stunning, scenic quayside to the budding creative scene in Ouseburn, it’s an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
