Whistler Animals Galore (WAG), a non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of homeless cats and dogs, is working tirelessly to provide rehabilitation and care to animals in search of permanent homes. WAG relies on grants, donations, and fundraising to operate, and its long-established partnership with Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre has seen a total of $45,674 donated to date, including this year’s sum of $4,030.
Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre’s partnership with WAG began in 2012. The hotel continues to donate to the shelter annually with funds generated from the year-round pet stay fee and its seasonally dedicated Pamper Your Pet Package. When guests stay in a pet-friendly suite, $5 per night is donated to WAG. The hotel partners with Canadian businesses to incorporate items in the accommodation package, with treats from Northern Dog Biscuit Bakery and upcycled rope toys from Whistler’s local business Little Pine Pet included this year.
In March 2024, WAG’s shelter at 8014 Nesters Road, Whistler, reached full capacity with 15 cats and dogs on-site and an unlimited number in foster homes. Last year, despite challenges, WAG facilitated 112 animal adoptions, provided shelter and care to 36 lost and stray animals, and offered critical care to 36 animals. Donations to the non-profit organization accounted for 31.5% of its financial revenue in 2023, and fundraising accounted for 12.8%, demonstrating the need for such contributions.
“It is often overlooked that WAG is home to long-term animal residents, and we are grateful for the support of partners like Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre whose donations impact the work our team is doing,” said Peta Woolnough, Executive Director Whistler Animals Galore (WAG). “Lola, a cherished resident here at WAG since 2018, is among the long-term animals who have made remarkable progress at WAG thanks to the unwavering support of our team. We hope to find her a forever home where she can continue her journey surrounded by love, and community support plays a central role in this process,” added Woolnough.
“As a proudly pet-friendly hotel, Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre is inspired by the work of Whistler Animals Galore (WAG) and all the organization does for our local community,” said Julie Lanteigne, general manager of Pan Pacific Whistler Hotels. “WAG has been operating in Whistler for 42 years, and as we celebrate 12 years of our partnership, we look forward to the years to come while more animals find forever homes.”
