The Cook Islands are taking over TikTok travel bucket lists with #CookIslands amassing an impressive 10 million views in Australia over the past 4 months.
But it’s not just a For You Page dream —new data from Webjet reveals a 48% rise in bookings for travel to the Cook Islands in the next six months compared to the same period in 2023*.
Alongside the new island gem, Bali also continues to have its moment – with bookings up 47% since last year*. But Fiji-fever isn’t holding as strong, with a 3% decrease in overall bookings.
Aussies can enjoy a trip to the Cook Islands for a similar price to these old-time island favorites, costing on average $2,080* compared to $1,845* and $2,130* for Bali and Fiji respectively.
CEO of Webjet OTA, David Galt, comments “When it comes to idyllic island getaways, Bali and Fiji have long been Aussie favourites. However, this year, Webjet data shows a growing interest in alternative destinations like the Cook Islands, where bookings have increased by 48%*. Providing a similar tropical escape that’s also close to home, the Cook Islands are on the radar as a next favourite island destination for Aussies.”
