Fresh from being named a finalist in two categories of the Australian Hotels Association State Awards for Excellence, The Victoria Hotel Rutherglen continues to progress its multi-million-dollar redevelopment with stage one of its luxurious accommodation now open.

Situated in Rutherglen’s historic Main Street village, The Victoria now offers six of a planned 14 all-king suites, designed for both the leisure and business traveler. Featuring private ensuites and luxury fittings, the suites are available in three categories: Standard King, Premium King and Deluxe King, with rates starting from $285 per night.

According to Owner and Venue Director Kate Halpin, the release of the luxurious accommodation means the historic venue is the only owner-operated full-service hotel in Rutherglen.

“We know that convenience is key when travelling; the fact our guests can now dine, gather, work and rest from the one location means less time commuting and more downtime doing what they love most,” Mrs Halpin said.

The Victoria’s three-year multi-million-dollar renovation has added a sense of pride within the Rutherglen community who have loved seeing the historical 1894 building transform into a modern interpretation of a traditional country pub.

“We’re cognisant of the integral role local pubs play within the community, and hope we’ve created a place that instils a sense of community pride, and where locals and visitors feel equally at home.

“We’re humbled and thrilled to see so many local guests sharing our venue with visiting friends and family.  We hope that with the launch of our suites, we’ll be able to share a sense of true Rutherglen hospitality with even more visitors,” Mrs Halpin said.

Along with fresh new lodgings, hotel guests can also enjoy exclusive use of the property’s first floor The Library and Balcony – the perfect spaces to retreat following a day exploring the region’s famed wineries, distilleries, and scenic trails, before adjourning downstairs to dine in the hotel’s popular flame-focused restaurant, helmed by talented Head Chef Brendan Anderson.

For the corporate traveler, The Victoria’s state-of-the-art teleconferencing facilities and 16-seat board room provide the convenience of conducting business remotely. A number of local businesses have already taken advantage of these amenities, with The Victoria’s dedicated Events Manager ensuring meetings are executed professionally and seamlessly.

Phase two of The Victoria’s accommodation expansion is already underway, promising a further eight suites with enhanced flexibility for diverse visitor needs, including fully accessible, pet-friendly, and family-friendly rooms to be launched later in 2024.

Since launching its dining areas, public bar and beer garden in late 2023, The Victoria has gained a strong following for its menu, service and ambience leading to extended opening hours, now offering dinner service six days a week (Tuesday-Sunday) and lunch on Thursdays through Sundays.
