EVA Air and Evergreen Airline Services Corp. (EGAS) both earned certification once again from the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA’s) Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma). The certification verifies the highest standards in EVA’s and EGAS’s cold chain air and ground service operations at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). It also distinguishes EVA as the only Taiwan-based airline and one of the few airlines in the world to have obtained certification for air and ground handling operations simultaneously, reinforcing its position as one of the leading global one-stop cold chain pharmaceutical product carriers.

EVA and EGAS first earned CEIV Pharma certification in 2021. The exacting certification has enabled the carrier and ground-services provider to grow their pharmaceutical cold chain transportation business at an average rate of 30% annually. Recertification is expected to boost that business further, benefitting Taiwan’s biotech industry and global connections in the process.

IATA provides consistency and standardization for global pharmaceutical transportation needs. It works with the air transportation supply chain to establish safe, reliable logistics standards. CEIV Pharma certification is regarded as the highest standard in the cold chain transportation industry. Recertification is required every three years.

EVA and EGAT made significant investments to upgrade existing cold chain facilities and build new ones. They also arranged professional training for employees and established a complete quality control system that fully meets CEIV certification requirements and complies with international standards for transportation and storage.

To provide the best temperature-controlled cold chain logistics and transportation services possible, EVA also established a team of experts that works with multiple domestic and overseas container suppliers to provide refrigerated, low-temperature, extremely low temperature and other transportation services. Temperature-controlled containers rely on physics and chemical reactions to stay cold for as long as 144 hours without dry ice.

These containers can be continually monitored to control temperature and humidity for the transported products, providing safe, convenient, versatile and rapid cold chain transportation services. During the COVID epidemic, EVA and EGAS provided the kind of fast air transportation services the world needed to import and export the different vaccines.

IATA’s CEIV Pharma certification signifies EVA’s and EGAS’ high standards and identifies their services among the best for global pharmaceutical cold chain transportation.
