German cruise brand, nicko cruises, has visited Australia for the first time, with its flagship, Vasco da Gama, as part of a round-the-world cruise.

Named after 15th century Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama, the 1000-guest ship docked in Sydney yesterday for the first time under the brand, nicko cruises.

A group of travel agents were invited for a relaxed lunch tour aboard Vasco da Gama in Sydney yesterday, hosted by the exclusive representative for nicko cruises in Australia, Cruise Traveller, which specialises in small ships.

Cruise Traveller Managing Director Joseph O’Sullivan and NSW Partnership Manager Julie Donaldson welcomed the agents onboard along with Captain Adrian Firsov, with the agents visiting the bridge, cabins and public areas and enjoying a four-course lunch onboard.

Agents were also invited onboard in Brisbane last week.

Known for its space and understated elegance, the nine-deck Vasco da Gama boasts sleek teak decks, five deluxe bars and lounges, five restaurants, spa centre with sauna, steam bath and gym, two pools, three jacuzzis and a two-storey show theatre.

Many Australians are sailing aboard the ship during sectors in and out of Australia.
