Spread the love

welcome to Hotel de RussieAs the saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans do.  What the Romans do is admire outstanding hospitality in accommodation and culinary experiences, meaning the refined Hotel de Russie is one of the city’s most admired properties.  No surprise there.  Consistently ranked as one of the world’s best hotels, Hotel de Russie lives up to its sterling reputation by providing Romans and their visitors with spacious rooms and suites, exceptional meals, and the five-star service found in all properties part of the stellar Rocco Forte Hotels group.

Hotel de Russie's Secret Garden

Hotel de Russie’s Secret Garden.

Like its sister property, Hotel de la Ville, Hotel de Russie is ideal for enjoying luxuriously exclusive accommodation in Rome. However, steps away from Piazza del Popolo, one of Rome’s most attractive squares, Hotel de Russie is worlds away from the outside world despite its convenient location on Via del Babuino just a short walk to the Spanish Steps and Rome’s best shopping on Via dei Condotti.  Leaving the premises is unnecessary to enjoy the best of Rome, Italy, and travel.  Rooms and suites are enormous by European standards; those guests lucky enough to afford the themed suites will be reticent to leave the beautiful interiors for even a minute.

Unless, of course, occupying the Nijinsky Suite, which has an enormous terra cotta tiled terrace all to itself to enjoy the outdoors, too.  Hotel de Russie’s exquisite secret garden lends its name to Le Jardin de Russie, the hotel’s superb dining venue where polished service adds to the enjoyment of the fine food prepared here.  Rocco Forte’s Creative Director Of Food, Fulvio Pierangelini, is not one to seek the limelight, but the limelight seeks him thanks to the imaginative twists in Italian classics and innovative dishes prepared under his leadership and served in the beautiful room that brings the garden into the room figuratively if not literally.  In fine weather, Jardin de Russie’s terrace is ideal for enjoying the garden and culinary treats.

Attractions in the most central part of the Italian capital receive the lion’s share of attention, but there are sights well worth seeing north of Piazza del Popolo, the typical ‘end’ of the city for most tourists.  Just a few blocks away is the virtually deserted Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum in Villa Helene.  Surprisingly, few visitors know this museum gem where monumental sculptures are displayed throughout the artist’s former home, including in the classic artist’s atelier where Andersen worked.

If the preference is for touring the more famous sights with a private guide, local company Through Eternity provides insightful private tours that include a variety of special interest excursions in Rome and elsewhere in Italy, too.  Expert guides and privileged entry (bypassing the sometimes long lines to enter the most famous museums) make Through Eternity tours an optimal choice for making the best use of one’s time while in Rome—although simply wandering through Hotel de Russie and its secret garden would already be made for a highly memorable Roman holiday.
