The Anika Palace Hotel in Cambodia’s Phnom Penh remains a haven for Australian visitors. The rooftop pool and bar provide tranquillity far from the harsh recent history of the Kingdom. In recognition of its traditional Khmer hospitality, the hotel’s exterior features 100-year-old bricks.
Located in a sought-after area with easy access to the Victory Monument, a great landmark (if you get lost), Sisowath Quay and King’s Palace on the Tonle Sap River. It is a superb oasis in the heart of Phnom Penh with a caring duty to the environment. Plastic is on the banned list, and sustainable products are used as much as possible. Examples include wooden guest keycards, refillable glass bottles for purified drinking water, and bathroom amenities made from straw and cornstarch.
“All items are biodegradable”, said Mr Sin Samney (Sam), the Anik Cluster General Manager. “All reflect excellent eco-friendly characteristics.”
Many of the staff under the tutorship of Sam have worked together for some years. “Our combined determination has propelled the team’s journey of working from the bottom to where we are standing right now,” he added.
The Anik Palace was named by the owner in recognition of his love and respect for his wife. ‘Anik’ is her nickname, which translates in Kymer to politeness and generosity. The property is being extended to include an adjacent building which will add 21 rooms increasing the total to 147.
The group is currently building a connection to the next-door property constructed in the same style as the Anik Palace. It will be an annex to the current hotel providing a combination of deluxe rooms, family rooms and suites and is scheduled to open in Q2 -2025. It will feature an authentic ground-floor Khmer cuisine restaurant open to guests and the public. The spa, conference room and Sky Bar will be extended to cater for 100 guests.
Anik Palace Hotel is the third property to be opened by Anik Hotels Group. They are all nestled in the heart of Phnom Penh. First to be launched was Anik Boutique Hotel, followed by Anik Boutique Hotel & Spa, then the Anik Palace Hotel.
Management has resolved to increase awareness of the Anik properties to become a leading Cambodian hotel group and successfully operate the hotels with local talent.
Had it not been for the rein of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge, Cambodia would now be the jewel in the Asian crown.
Prices at Anik Palace Hotel start at AUD $106 for a Deluxe Comfort King/Twin to AUD $335 for an Anik Classic suite.
