Trilogy Hotels - logoIn an era where the Australian hotel industry seems ripe for innovation, a groundbreaking venture, Trilogy Hotels, is set to redefine the hospitality landscape. Founded by three of Australia’s most seasoned hospitality experts, Scott Boyes, Tony Ryan, and Grant Alchin, Trilogy Hotels introduces an independent management model to hotel operations in Australia and New Zealand.

Trilogy Hotels is not just another hotel management company. It is a vision brought to life by pioneers in the industry. Scott Boyes, with a remarkable three-decade tenure at Accor, rose from a front office manager to a senior VP overseeing operations across multiple regions. With over 35 years of experience, Tony Ryan has been pivotal in significant global transactions, including Accor’s colossal US$940m acquisition of Mantra Group. Another Accor alum, Grant Alchin, is renowned for transforming underperforming hotels into profitable ventures. His recent role at CapitaLand underscores his expertise in strategic asset management.

At the core of Trilogy Hotels’ ethos is a trifold focus: owners, guests, and team members. This philosophy stems from a shared belief among the founders that hotels are more than just establishments; they are life-changing spaces for everyone involved. Trilogy Hotels aims to impact these three key stakeholder groups positively.

This unique approach offers hotel owners and brands an independent platform for managing investment-grade assets. Under Trilogy’s model, hotel brands provide branding, marketing, and loyalty programs, while Trilogy manages operations, driving operational efficiency and profit performance. This model significantly shifts from the traditional hotel management agreement prevalent in Australia and New Zealand, which combines distribution and operating capabilities under a single brand.

“We are expanding the model further, tailoring it for the Australian and New Zealand market,” says Scott Boyes, CEO of Trilogy Hotels. “Our goal is to forge connections between hotel owners and their investments, leveraging the exceptional distribution capabilities of global hotel brands.”

Although new to Australia and New Zealand, this business model has seen great success in the US, with Aimbridge Hospitality leading the way. Aimbridge started with just eight hotels in 2003 and now manages over 1,500 properties across 23 countries. The success of this model in the US market underscores its potential in Australia and New Zealand.

Industry leaders like Sean Hunt, Area Vice President for Marriott International in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, recognize the potential of this model. “We commend Trilogy Hotels and anticipate powerful opportunities for collaboration under franchise agreements with our global brands,” Hunt remarks.

Gus Moors, Managing Director for JLL Hotels & Hospitality, strongly supports Trilogy Hotels’ approach, aligning it with successful investment trends in Europe and the US.

The expertise of Trilogy’s founders in tourism and hospitality across the Asia Pacific region is unparalleled. Their deep passion for the industry and desire to enhance it is evident in their approach. “Hotels are spaces where stories intertwine, where dreams are nurtured, and where connections are forged,” says Boyes, highlighting the human element at the heart of Trilogy Hotels.

As Trilogy Hotels moves closer to finalizing a deal that could transform the industry in Australia and New Zealand, its founders have been actively engaging with brands, partners, and hotel owners to share their transformative philosophy. The anticipation in the industry is palpable, as this venture promises not just a new business model but a new chapter in the story of Australian hospitality.
