Etihad, the UAE’s national airline, has experienced remarkable growth since its inception. In 2004, the company started with 1,761 employees, which has swelled to nearly 10,000 in 2023, reflecting the airline’s expansive influence in the global aviation landscape. Its fleet, initially modest, now boasts 79 state-of-the-art aircraft, providing services to over 70 destinations worldwide.

Antonoaldo Neves, Etihad’s Group Chief Executive Officer, expressed immense pride in the airline’s journey. “Celebrating at the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, is fitting for Etihad’s towering achievements over two decades. Our focus has been on more than flights; it’s about connecting cultures, fostering global ties, and transforming Abu Dhabi into a major travel hub,” Neves said.

Looking to the future, Neves outlined ambitious plans for Etihad. “By 2030, we aim to double our fleet and triple our guest numbers to 33 million annually. This growth will not only boost our global network but also increase visitors to Abu Dhabi, our beloved home,” he added.

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Etihad is enhancing the passenger experience with a series of initiatives throughout November. Guests can savour a new inflight culinary menu inspired by the UAE’s rich gastronomic culture and the destinations Etihad serves. Moreover, the airline is introducing a retro-inspired amenity range in First and Business class, featuring travel-size products from the acclaimed skincare brand ESPA, reminiscent of its 2003 aircraft livery.

Economy passengers on medium and long-haul flights will enjoy complimentary, limited-edition amenity tote bags. These stylish, foldable bags are equipped with inflight essentials, ensuring a comfortable and memorable journey.

Etihad’s move to its new home at Terminal A at Abu Dhabi International Airport is complementing these celebrations. The transition from 9 to 14 November was marked by the unveiling of exquisite new lounges, including the ‘Constellation Bar’ and Liwan Global Dining restaurant, offering travellers a luxurious respite.

In gratitude to its customers, Etihad offers special fares to numerous destinations in its award-winning economy and business classes. This offer, valid until 12 November for travel between 4 December 2023 and 15 March 2024, can be availed through Etihad’s website.

As Etihad Airways commemorates this significant milestone, it stands as a testament to its enduring commitment to excellence, innovation, and connecting the world with the heart of the UAE.
