Captain Cook Cruises Fiji Launches MS Caledonian SkyIn the pristine waters of Fiji, a historic event unfurled as Captain Cook Cruises Fiji proudly introduced the MS Caledonian Sky, a beacon of luxury and adventure in expedition cruising. This grand affair, witnessed in Fiji’s idyllic setting, marks a significant milestone in the region’s nautical chronicles.

Dignitaries like Allison Haworth West, Executive Chair of Captain Cook Cruises Fiji, and Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji, graced the ceremony. The highlight was the traditional Fijian Sevusevu ritual, a poignant testament to Fiji’s rich cultural heritage. Adi Varanisese Ligalevu Tavaiqia, embodying the spirit of the Vanua of Vuda, was honoured as the ship’s Godmother, symbolizing a deep bond between the vessel and the Fijian people.

Reverend Saimoni Rokini’s blessing set a respectful tone. At the same time, as per maritime tradition, the ship’s Godmother’s cutting of a flower garland signified the vessel’s readiness to embrace the Fijian seas. This act was not just a formality but a bridge between the traditional and the modern, a gesture of respect and unity.
