The renowned beef, game, artisan cheese, oysters and fine malt whiskies of Scotland and her wild islands will be showcased during two, special, gastronomic voyages in 2024 that will take guests on palate-pleasing, small-ship, culinary journeys embracing the fabled Scottish Highlands and the Hebrides Islands.
Australian small ship cruising specialist, Cruise Traveller, is offering the twin culinary cruises in partnership with Hebridean Island Cruises, which Cruise Traveller exclusively represents in Australia. Exclusive savings of five per cent are available for bookings made by November 30, 2023.
Cruise Traveller’s new, seven-night ‘Flavours of the Hebrides’ package offers sailings, round-trip from Oban in Scotland in April and October, 2024, aboard the 48-guest Hebridean Princess. Akin to a stylish country house on water, the Hebridean Princess celebrates the gentle pleasures of cruising with an ambience of relaxed elegance, luxurious décor, maritime tradition, personal service and shared conviviality, echoing Hebridean Island Cruises’ philosophy that ‘small is personal’.
The identical, culinary-themed sailings will feature the mystical lochs, wild moors, soaring peaks, grand castles and quaint storybook villages of Scotland and the pristine Hebrides Islands off the coast.
On the island of Colonsay, guests will see how oysters destined for the ship’s galley are grown and visit a honey farm. On the Isle of Skye, guests will be treated to a memorable, Scottish feast at the famous Kinlock Lodge, which rests grandly on a remote stretch of waterfront. On Isle of Skye, guests will also visit the oldest, inhabited castle in Scotland – Dunvegan Castle, dating back to the 13th Century, and savour lunch at world-renowned, five-star eatery, Three Chimneys Restaurant. Another gourmet lunch will be enjoyed at the castle-like Torridon Hotel near the Highlands hamlet of Shieldaig.
At Inverie, guests can visit the most remote pub on the British mainland, the Old Forge, as well as the remote whisky distillery of Ardnamurchan, while on the Isle of Mull, a visit to dairy farm will show how premium, local cheese is made. The culinary adventure concludes with a grand, champagne reception at ancient Duart Castle, nestled epically by the sound of Mull. The cruise ends back in Oban on Scotland’s west coast.
